Hello. My 4.2 yo son has the diagnosis of apraxia, with autistic

features (as he has gotten older, the autistic features, such as

difficulty with joint attention, have become more apparent). We have

been doing verbal behavior (a type of ABA) with him for the past year,

and he went from essentially nonverbal, to having many words. The VB

program has been fabulous in reinforcing word approximations (after

initially using signs), which are gradually shaped to be more like the

actual word-- you should hear how he says " Daddy! " (started out like

aggee, went to Gaddy, and is now Daddy). Our VB program has also been

great at encouraging him to do his oral motor and Sara Rosenfeld-

whistle work. I do think that our VB program has truly helped

deal with his apraxic problems, by breaking things up into small

steps, reinforcing those steps, and then helping put it all together.

Good luck to all,
