Hi everyone

Well I'm just about maintaining control of all the posts here but have not

been able to really reply to any since I have been busy with the Support

Group here. I have been arranging a family day in London for this coming

Saturday. There are over 20 families coming which is the second largest

gathering in this country. I am looking forward to it although it is going

to be busy. We are holding it at Sense's family centre in London and they

have have not had more than 60 people at the centre before - there are going

to be 100! This centre has specialist hydrotherapy pool, gym, sensory, arts

and music rooms.

Back to before talking about her implant I want to tell a cute story

that also shows how much has developed and is aware of what is going

on. Tonight was downstairs while Elly had just gone to bed. Flo and

I were also upstairs - J came upstairs opened Elly's bedroom door (we were

thinking what's she up to) and in the dark went over to Elly in bed to kiss

her goodnight. Elly was so chuffed.

's cochlear implant - good luck with Meagan's implant -

hopefully what I am about to say will give you comfort. Although nothing was

apparent on her CT or MRI scan nothing was where it should be or formed

correctly be it bone, nerve or ear 's surgeon was very pleased with

the actual operation. This was in March, at her latest visit to the implant

team it is clear that she can hear sounds across the range and very quiet

sounds (she has a thin auditory nerve). She has been very successful at

their tests. Outside of this environment is very happy to have her

implant on, has to her name on several occasions and when we've been doing

mouth shape work she has really tried to copy us.

For those wondering how Flo is - she's knackered! She has a student at work

and is also doing the practice teaching course to go with him. And Elly,

well she is loving school learning to read etc.

Simon
