Guest guest
After spent the past week getting better in his lungs and his fluid status, and after one doc sounding like they wouldn't accept a liver for right now, anyway, because there was yeast in his lungs on his bronch, but pulmonary saying it didn't matter, and renal (kidney) not being sure if his kidneys failed because his liver was failing or for some other reason . . . His lung transplant surgeon went to the GI/liver transplant meeting on Thursday and made it VERY clear to them that the yeast in his lungs was NOT worth denying him an organ over. The renal docs made it clear, apparently, that there's just as likely a chance that his kidneys failed BECAUSE of his liver as not. has been feeling better and getting back to himself again. They had decided this morning to take him off the Prisma (24 hour a day dialysis) today and start him back on hemodialysis tomorrow. He peed this morning again. 85cc's. VERY cool!!!!! ANYWAY . . . Jon and I went to get the oil changed in his truck, then went to Target to pick up some soda and some drinks for that he's been requesting (cherry kool-aid singles, sunny d, diet 7-up). We're standing in the soda isle, having just gotten there, and 's nurse called saying that the transplant docs wanted us back to the hospital as soon as possible to talk to us because they thought they had a liver for . After getting out of the state of shock and making sure I had NOT crapped my pants in the middle of Target, we paid for our couple things of soda and Jon drove 180mph back to the hospital. They had decided already that things were (almost) for sure a go, and they started getting ready (NPO, enimas, etc) and the plan was for him to go in around 7pm. From what we were told, apparently the child was on life support, and would be right up until it was time. That makes me so sad to think of, and SOOOOO grateful to his/her family for the choice they have made. My heart is breaking for them right now. We took down to the pre-op at 7:30, and at 8:10 the surgeon called and said it was a go, the liver looked great!!! went into the OR at 8:20pm. We haven't heard anything new as of yet, but I will send updates as we get them. If I can stay awake and alert enough to do so!!! I'm exhausted already. has been feeling really good the last few days, asking for his PS3 so he can play his video games, watching the food network, giving his nurses a hard time. Jon and I had a nice peaceful weekend with both girls gone and my sister gone to visit a friend. Another couple and I went to dinner last night and then the 4 of us went to Valley Fair for the evening. Nice and relaxing, some good mom and dad/grown-up time. Loving you ALL!!!!
