Guest guest
That is great news Pierre! I know you have been looking forward to this for a long time. Will you be free to leave the hospital during the day or be confined the entire duration? I am excited for you! In a message dated 6/15/2005 12:18:42 P.M. Pacific Daylight Time, pgl-groups@... writes: I had my monthly clinic appointment today. Now it's official. I'm starting daily nocturnal hemodialysis on Monday night. First, I have to sleep overnight at the hospital for 3 nights. This is partly to be able to easily and quickly do bloodwork, so the neph can adjust things like the potassium and phosphorus which must be added to my dialysis. One reason it took so long to start nocturnal after I finished my home dialysis training is because the hospital dialysis centre where this is done is under reconstruction right now. So, they had to make alternative arrangements. I'm looking forward to the switch. It was always my intention to do nocturnal. Short daily is great, but there's a much higher payoff for doing home hemodialysis when you do it nocturnally. The long, slow dialysis means there is no downtime during the day, but for me, it's the almost totally free diet and no fluid restriction that are the big attractions. Guest guest
Finally! Pinch me - it''s real! You will have your days back! Your dogged persistence with this is paying off! As much as I hate to think of your evening incarceration, may those three nights fly by. I'm staying tuned for your updates! Guest guest
First, let me say that I greatly appreciate everyone's greetings and well-wishes. I don't reply to each one because I don't want to generate too much email traffic on the group, but you can be assured that I read all of your messages. I'm looking forward to being able to report on the nocturnal. There aren't too many people out there who actually do daily nocturnal hemo. I just hope the TV works in the room and that there are good late movies on that night :-) Pierre Re: Starting nocturnal hemo on Monday > Finally! Pinch me - it''s real! You will have your days back! Guest guest
Pierre, I am sooooooo excited for you!! As I mentioned previously, I met a friend of mine at the renal clinic who also happens to be a dialysis nurse in the dialysis unit. They started nocturnal hemo last year, and for one of our mutual friends who happens to be in dialysis, it has worked out very very well for him! I wish you best of luck on this next stage (although I think you will do just fine on nocturnal). It will be so wonderful for you to have even more freedom during the day!
