Guest guest
Note to the men here, you might want to skip this post.... Just wanted to weigh in here regarding PMS symptoms, cramps etc. I have found that exercise and eating healthily greatly decreases PMS symptoms and cramps. There have been months where I have had many symptoms (bloating, mood swings, fatigue, pain, cramping, that horrible pressure in my legs where they feel like they are going to " blow up " etc.) and then months when boom! the period is there and I didn't see it coming (or feel it coming) and the symptoms are much lighter (however, never nonexistant). I have to attribute it to increased exercise and less " junk food " (decreased salt, sugar and fat; increased vegetables and lean protein). Plain and simple, I have better periods when I am on a program. I noticed the difference when I was on LA Weightloss a year ago. The reason why I noticed it is because the food and exercise journalling is strict and you meet with a counselor 3x a week. This is not to advocate for this over WW-- the same results can be made with WW-- LA was just not realistic for my life. Anyhow, with the frequent meetings and weigh-ins I noticed the difference. Also, I noticed I go up 5 pounds when PMSing, then it disappears the next week (and that is with low salt, low sugar and low fat). That will be my strategy for life because I have had some awfully uncomfortable periods. Kathy in Syracuse, NY
Guest guest
That's a very good point Kathy, and why my personal anecdote may not be as applicable to someone who doesn't exercise. I found my PMS symptoms drop to near non-existant after I started daily exercise. Everyone's body is different and everyone's cycle is slightly different. Like someone else said, the important thing is to be aware of it and take note so you can deal with it, not use it as an excuse to go off program. It might be a reason you WENT off program without realizing what was going on, but the beauty of making a mistake is learning from it. Once you learn from it you can plan for the next instance. Depending on the woman, it can be a big deal for the man as well. I could tell you tales about the woman I dated before I met my wife, but I'll spare you.
