Guest guest
Having my own senior moments this week - can't even type my own name right :-) Family concerns keep creeping into my work time. My mother (80 and has more energy than I do) has severe tinnitus and is hearing music and other noises constantly. She does not know what is real and what is not. She keeps thinking the neighbors are loud and complains, only to find it was not them. It has made her very anxious. Meanwhile, my daughter is due to have baby #3 in early August. She works for me, so that increases my load while she is off. She has been having strong contractions (not Braxton Hicks) and some other signs that perhaps the baby wants to be a little early. My docs are all dictating longer and longer reports to satisfy insurance. I cannot concentrate and could sure use a Xanax :-) ABBREVIATION > > > > > > > I am having a " senior moment " and just can't figure out what an LA is in > > > the foot? Guest guest
, Here's a cyber Long Island Ice Tea to help with the nerves, along with prayers coming your way. My dad has tinnitus and says he has a nice bird chirping in his ears all the time. My sister took her bird with her during the family reunion, so dad had a real bird singing to him for awhile instead of just the one in his head. I have a friend whose father is a great prayer warrior and I would love to send this message on to him to pray for your family and the situation if that's okay with you. Guest guest
My mother's name is Marge and my daughter is . My mother belongs to a prayer chain and is quite a prayer warrior herself. You can never have too much prayer. How is your father doing? Sounds like he has come to terms with his tinnitus. My mother has 2 hearing aids and has Meniere's disease. This is the only time I have seen her ever come close to " losing it " . We may have to drive her to Portland (250 miles) to a specialist at the unversity. We are waiting to see how the Elavil works for her. I have heard about that working for some with tinnitus and it helps with sleep. I will keep you posted and thanks so much. Guest guest
, For dad, the tinnitus, is just such a small part of his problems, that he doesn't say much about it anymore, except when he commented on the fact that he has his own bird chirping in his ears all the time. I believe he also has Meniere's because he is on Antivert. He doesn't wear hearing aids because he has never liked the way that they work. But he has always surprised us with how well he really can hear when he realizes someone is talking to him and he concentrates on that person. Until this first part of my trip, he was always the one to answer the phone whenever it rang and really talked on the phone quite well. I'm afraid he used up a lot of his energy during the reunion and is now quite tired, but we are still hoping he will make a come back. I hope they can find something they can do for your mom for her own sanity (and yours). Margaret >>> njburk@... 07/16/03 02:54PM >>> My mother's name is Marge and my daughter is . Guest guest
Your plate is certainly full. Prayers for sure. Would you consider telling your clients that they need to accept mail and call in until these bumps have gone down a bit? I find my client is willing when I really have reason to ask her. She accepts that it is either she agree to the call in and mail or she will have to find another transcriptionist and it really would not be worth the headache for her as I would be back in 8 days. The other client is so laid back I don't know what he is even bothering for. Very interesting situation. With all the prayers you should be fine. Hoping and praying for your daughter too. That **!! insurance can really demand everything fall in their grips, have you noticed? You do what they ask or ****@@@@@@@@@@@!!!!!!!!!!!!! Guest guest
Well at least it is a NICE bird. I bet he enjoyed the real bird. Hoping he is getting his strength back from the reunion. I find that any kind of change in routine knocks my mom out. Hoping she will sleep her way through the retreat, but I doubt it. She is tired but wants to be part of the action anyway. I have a tranquilizer to give her but have not done so yet. She takes an aspirin and will sleep for hours so I am very nervous about giving her a tranquilizer. Count on this cubicle buddy's prayers. Guest guest
I too like names as it makes the prayers more personal...even if it is only the 1st name. Guest guest
Thanks to everyone for your kindness. I do not share last names of family without their permission and hope you understand. As for my clients, though I know they would be very understanding, I am saving that for when the baby arrives and I am responsible for everything. I will write them all notes and tell them I cannot guarantee 24-hour turnaround until is back to work. Until then, I am trying to keep up so I am not already behind when I have to ask them to be understanding. As a last resort, I do have fellow MTs close by who will do some of the transcription if I ask, but I don't like to give away my income. As for call in, I have taken out my second phone line because no one ever used it. I am working with one office to go digital. It is a long time before they are all there. If I have to I can hire someone to do pickup. I am working on it, but I do not like to relinquish " control " or have things change from the norm, a sign of my age. Guest guest
Definitely I understand with everything you state. First names are fine. I too have an MT who lives near by, thank God, and she will cover for me while I am away. She did it last year and this year I was concerned as she is now working 3 days a week. But she says she will cover me as much as possible. The doc is working with us both. I let me second line go also as the main client has this unreasonable fear. But then the laid back client called one day and pleaded with me to take him back. When the main client first used the call in system we had a lot of problems as she used the voice activation causing problems. She does not realize we corrected it. But she has to use it now. My friend will come in twice during the time I am away to pick up the work and will not be delivering. I do lose the income for the week but I need the vacation/retreat so I have to appreciate the fact that I have someone. The other laid back client uses the call in when he 'feels like' dictating. I am waiting for some work now as he called last week. I told him I would restart the call in (actually I never disconnected it but just never checked it) but he had to start using it or I would definitely be disconnecting it. He used it once since then (two months ago-I guess he just doesn't understand?!) I don't want to disconnect it for fear that another client will come along and it costs too much to reconnect a line.) Sorry for the ranting. Back to work.... Aliceanne At 04:16 PM 7/16/2003 -0700, you wrote: >Thanks to everyone for your kindness. Guest guest
Hi Nanch, I just thought maybe you were buying some horse property and were going to create a new name for it. Hope you get some rest. You can tell how busy I have been by how long it has taken me to read this far into the old mail. Skim, delete, skim, delete, skim, delete. Lynn RE: Senior moments Having my own senior moments this week - can't even type my own name right :-) Family concerns keep creeping into my work time.
