Guest guest
And I get to reduce my pred dose!! Woohoo!! I had NO protien or blood in my urine...None....Nada...Negative... I'm still in shock. I'm going down to 2.5mg daily on the prednisone after I get back from my trip next week. I'll be on that until Sept then we'll see how I'm doing again. My b/p has been dropping low regularly since starting the melatonin so we reduced my lisinopril to 30mg daily and I'm to keep up with the melatonin. He also said that due to being on the pred for so long that if I get sick over the next year I'll have to go on higher pulses of " stress doses " so that my body dosen't go into shock from adrenal glands that can't keep up. He also said this dose reduction might be one of the harder ones and that many people have an increase in mental issues during the wean from 5 to 2.5mg....so if I go crazy you all know why.. ;-) We talked about the increase in my creatinine to 2.5 and my swelling. He basically said the creatinine increase isn't a surprise due to my biopsy report, and that it would likely continue to increase...hopefully slowly. He feels my swelling is mild to moderate...Since I can't take any diuretics I'm just to keep a very close eye on my sodium intake and cut it as far back as possible, keep up with my herbals, and he gave me a Rx for Ted Hose if I feel I need them. He also wants me to work on losing weight, even if it means increasing my protien intake for a bit to rebuild muscle and help my body burn some of this fat off. He said right now my job is to try and get back under 200lbs so things will be easier on me down the road when I do hit failure. I'm going to look into Weight Watchers and the weight loss program thru Curves to see what might work best to get me on track. All in all he is still very happy that we decided to treat me aggressively since without everything that we have done this far I probably would have been on dialysis in less than 6 months from diagnosis....so far it's 21 months and counting. His associates felt I was untreatable...I think he likes to gloat about my case after every continued good set of labs. :-) Amy G.
Guest guest
That's great Amy. Are you sure it was your urine :-) 2.5mg of prednisone is almost like a homeopathic dose. Guest guest
If it hadn't been the third test in under 2 weeks to show it I wouldn't have believed it...but with all the nasty back pain I was having I had a quick stick test done in the doctors office, plus a second complete one done at the lab...both of those also showed no blood or protein. So when this third one came back with the same result it finally sank in that " HEY I don't have any more protein in my urine! " . Amy G. Back from the nephs > And I get to reduce my pred dose!!
