Guest guest
Oh , sorry to hear about the little one having the roto-virus. That's just awful. Although I have no experience with this myself, other that post on this site often mention that it isn't uncommon for your creatinine to go haywire after being ill. I hope that this is the case with you and that your labs will return to your pre-virus levels. Will you be tested again in a couple of weeks? Please keep us posted. Guest guest
Hi Sorry I haven't posted lately. I have been ill-I keep my sisters five month old and he just got over the Rota Virus and apparantly I got a similar virus. Headache-vomiting/dia. you get my drift. I just had labs done and my creattine from 3.4 to 5.8 in just two weeks. I just had the test redone today. Has anyone else had a virus and it made thier creatinine jump that much that fast??? Thanks Billie
Guest guest
However, depending on your size, a serum creatinine of 5.8 is pretty close to dialysis territory, so, it's a good thing you are repeating your labs. I join Rita in hoping it's just a blip due to the virus. Pierre Re: creatitine level high > Oh , sorry to hear about the little one having the roto-virus. > That's > just awful. Guest guest
I forgot to add this: It might just be dehydration from the viral illness. That can make creatinine jump. That happened to me a few times when I was at about that level. Above 3 is already fairly advance chronic renal failure, so, it might not take too much to get it from there to around 5 or 6. Good luck, . Pierre Re: creatitine level high > > >> Oh , sorry to hear about the little one having the roto-virus. >> That's >> just awful. Guest guest
Billie I'm glad you're feeling better and I too hope that the creatinine jump is just a blip from the virus. Let us know what your new labs show when you get the results. Amy G. creatitine level high Hi Sorry I haven't posted lately. Guest guest
Hey Billie, It's good to hear from you. I'm sorry to hear you've been sick.... and sorried to hear about that creatinine jump. I don't know how big you are, but hitting 5.8 is approaching dialysis for many people. What does your neph say? Hopefully, this was due to dehydration from the virus (which could be the case, but at 5.8, you can't be too careful) and will go back down. I'd lean on your neph for more info. Guest guest
Hi Billie, I wasn't even at all sick, and I went from 300 to 444 in a month. That got me a transplant evaluation and into the pre-care renal clinic very quickly. Then I dropped back to 350 now. 5.8 seems quite high, so I am glad that you are getting your labs redone. I've been told in the past that an illness like a cold or flu can make your creatinine jump 50 points or so easily. Not sure about more than that. I hope you get well very soon! Guest guest
Hi Billie, I am really concerned about you! I pray your repeat labs show you have come down to your baseline again. My doctor always tells me that at such low function, one illness can cause my kidneys to go into failure and I pray that is not the case with you. Are you feeling better? Please take care of yourself. creatitine level high Hi Sorry I haven't posted lately.
