Hi Olga,

So sorry to hear about your 3 ectopics. I understand how you feel abut your

family not seeming to recognize having an ectopic as a loss. I think it is just

too uncomfortable for them to face, and minimizing it makes it seem less

serious. I think if our families really thought about how close they came to

losing us, it might be too much for them. This doesn't make the fact that

nobody talks about it to us feel any better, but I think I understand more now

why they act as they do.

I have just joined this group as well. I have had two ectopic pregnancies,

about a year apart. I am about a week and a half post op from my second. My

incisions are healing, in fact, almost gone, but I still find myself crying for

the baby we lost. We wanted this child so much, as I wanted the children you

lost.

I found a quote online that, while I don't think it has made a life-changing

difference, has given me some food for thought, and I read it everyday, hoping

that someday I will believe and understand it. Maybe it will bring some

understanding and peace to you.

" Our grief always brings a gift. It is the gift of greater sensitivity and

compassion for others. We learn to rise above our own grief by reaching out and

lessening the grief of others. " -- Dr. Schuller

I think it is especially poignant in light of the terrible tragedy in the US

that is unfolding right now. Perhaps we can use some of our suffereing and loss

to make the suffereing and loss of others more bearable. I am not sure how, ut

I know there must be a way.

I have received many kind emails since I joined this group...I am sure you will

find some good support and understanding here.

If you need to talk, please feel free to email me personally (This goes for

anyone) soapprincess@...

Hello Olga,

I am very sorry to hear you have suffered so much loss. It is so hard. I know

what you mean about family/friends not really understanding all you have been

through. I had my ep Dec. 00 and required surgery, which I lost my rt tube.

No one really understood how I felt and all I had been through. Many never said

much about the baby we lost. It was like my body was suppose to heal and I would

move on. No one understand, it changes us forever. I hope you find the support

and caring here as I did. These women and their stories gave me the courage and

strength to ttc again. You have suffered alot and I am very sorry. You are not

alone, please remember that. I read that AmyR posted our horrible experience

has brought us together and I hope you find some peace. Please take care of

yourself. When do you go back to the drs?

As for what has happened to our nation....it is still so hard for me to

believe....I just want to wake up and it all to have been a bad dream, like most

others I am sure.

Thank you for your letter of support. I really appreciate your concern. I am

going back to the drs in a week. I'm not sure what to ask. I know i have

endometriosis really bad, and I have one tube left...what should i do next? is

there any testing they can do for my other tube? and if so, does it require

surgery again? I think i would like to ttc in about six months or so. I don't

ever want to go through that horrible pain again. Ever!

Olga,

Hello there. I so wish I had some answers for you. I know you have been

through alot. Have you thought about going to a fertility specialist to give you

further assistance? Did your dr give you any direction that he/she thinks you

should take? I don't know that much about endometriosis, maybe someone else here

will. I hope you never have to go through the horrible bad again. I just wish

I could be more help.

Hi andra. I'm so sorry to hear the story of your loss. Many people

don't understand things the way someone who has been through this does. My

husband and I tried for the better part of a year as well when we got pg.

To me, the moment I got that +hpt, there was a baby. And when everyone else

was telling me it wasn't a baby yet, I couldn't find a way to make them

understand that yes people, I lost my baby. I eventually gave up trying to

convince them of my views on the subject, and accepted it as the way they

were dealing with what had happened.

I hope you find as much support in this group as I have. You'll not find a

kinder more understanding bunch of ladies out there!

Hi andra,

I am so sorry for your loss, but I know that you have definitely come to the

right place to " heal " . I had an ep in July of 99 and lost my rt. tube. I

came upon this group in January and it was the best thing that came out of my

ep because this board has the best women that you will ever " meet " . Please

take care.

Wow, there have been alot of new members here lately and it makes me

so sad to hear the stories. I am glad you found the group and hope

you find some comfort and hope for the future here. There are many

since I have joined who have went onto become pg and be just fine and

I know it gave me more hope than I could say hearing the stories. I

am very sorry for your loss. I had my ep Dec. 00 and lost my rt

tube. It was our first time trying and we have no other children. You

are right, there are so many emotions you go through and no one

really understands, we lost our babies. My dh tried his best to be

there for me and take care of me but just didn't understand I was

grieving not just recovering from a surgery. I mean, he said he felt

the loss but just not the same way, he was ready to just move on.

That is good news about your remaining tube. Did you have a hsg (and

test where they run dye through the tube)to check the stat of it?

You will know when you are ready to ttc again.

As for trying to get your dh to really understand what you are going

through, I know after I joined this group, I printed and let him read

some of the posts to get some idea of the feelings we feel and to try

to understand that it is normal. I thought I was going to go crazy.

One minute I thought I was doing ok and than the next I would see a

pg person or baby and just wanted to run screaming. I was so sad,

mad, jealous and I didn't want to be any of those things but just

couldn't help it. It helped to understand that what I was feeling

was normal.

Take care.

Hello alex,

I'm glad you've found the group and hope you will find the support you are

looking for here. I think it is wonderful that your husband is also looking

for support...and hope he won't be scared off by the group being only women

at this time...it is not intended to be specific to women, but it has just

happened that the women tend to be the ones to seek out emotional

support...although I do know a few of the member's husbands have come on

line and read some of the dialogues that go on and it has helped them gain

an understanding of where their wife is coming from and what she is feeling.

It is very frustrating when those around you don't recognize your loss.

Most of the people I know were the same way...very supportive in helping me

after surgery as far as the physical aspect, but noone wanted to talk about

the fact that I had lost a baby...it was easier for them to just avoid that

topic. Well, I couldn't ignore it, it was constantly running through my

head. But I must say that somehow with time it does get better...even

though I will never forget and probably still have a thought of the child I

lost run across my mind every day, it doesn't hurt as much to think

about....I can do it without crying now. It takes a while to get there

though...and along the way there are bumps in the road...you will find

yourself doing good for a while and then all the sudden it feels like you

are back to the day it happened. Just try to take the emotions as they come

and deal with them as best you can..don't try to rush to " be over it " (as

some people will say you should be). Everyone heals in their own time and

their own way. As far as the fear of it happening again, the best rememdy I

found for that was this group. Seeing women become successfully pg again

after an ectopic, gave me so much hope...hope that I couldn't find reading

all the medical and statistical info about ectopics. That's not to say that

all that fear didn't come back when I did get pg again, but I at least knew

there was hope that it wasn't ectopic. So please try not ever give up hope.

oh ,

my heart breaks for you. I am so sorry for your loss but glad that you found

us.

I had an ep last august after trying to get pg for almost 2 years. I too

lost my right tube and was devasted. in january I got pg again but

unfortunetly had m/c. I just started ttc again this month and am anxiously

waiting to see if I am pg again...

AS long as you have one tube, that is ALL you need to get pg! I feel as you

do that as soon as that spermie hits that egg, it IS a baby. Don't let

others tell you differently.. most people do NOT understand our loss. You

have found a wonderful group of women here. They ARE my lifesavor, my

sanity.

Share what you need to, when you need to... we all really do care and are

here for you.

Go to the CORE plan. There is no counting of points for the most

points, you stay full it is easy to do too!

You eat healthy, whole foods....ie no white bread or white pasta.

Switch to whole wheat pasta. There are core groups on Yahoo too.

Good luck,

Sally,

I'm reading a couple of the WW books right now, for motivation. One of them

is called " Stop Stuffing Yourself. " It has been helpful in getting myself

back on track. One of the issues they talk about has to do with the

'feelings' or 'feel good feeling' that food can give us.

There is scientific proof that certain hormones are released by foods,

especially carbohydrates, that give us a comfort feeling. But that feeling

is short lived, causes a jump in blood sugar, then a huge drop, and so we

eat more and more. My advice is to start writing in a journal that lists

what your emotions are when you are hungry or 'think' you are hungry.

Instead of eating, drink a good tall glass of water and write in your

journal. Look into yourself and isolate what is going on when you want to

eat and it isn't a meal or snack time. If you don't resolve the issues

involved with the reasons you eat, you may have more of a struggle than if

you were to isolate and figure out what it is that you are REALLY going for

when you go for food.

If you start with that, focus on the real issues behind what is going on,

you can then take corrective measures. Are you lonely? Call a friend, or

go online and send an email, chat or whatever. Are you bored? Get a hobby,

or go for a walk. I admit, my solutions are simplistic, and may not work

for you, but perhaps they give you ideas and well, you get the drift.

I'm very familiar with the need to eat when I'm stressed, which is MOST of

the time these days. I'm facing it, replacing the food activity with

something else. My body doesn't need all that extra food or I wouldn't be

on WW, right?

I watched Oprah on Monday, once again, tell the world how she lost the

weight. She said something that made sense. She said, " You have to make a

DECISION. When you decide to do something, then it will happen. You can

make it happen, if you make the decision to do it.

Good luck, and welcome to the group.

HI and my name is Sally: I am new member in this group, and very

happy to be accepted in this group. I need a big support and help to

loose weight. I tried very hard for the last 15 years but I am

gaining every year in stead of loosing. I am 42 years old and weigh

240lbs and need to loose 100lbs.

I tried everything but I failed because I love food and food makes

feel happy and comfortable. I signed with Weight Watchers but I am

too lazy to change all my habits and do that points, write them down,

track them.. Give me some advice or help to start again.

Hi Sally and welcome,

I am also new to the group. It has been a long time since I have

been to a WW meeting. I would like to know how the point system

works. Also if anyone can tell me what the charge to go to weekly

meeting is at this time. I am a lifetime member so I think that

would save me some money too.

There are a couple of gals where I work who have reached thier goal

weight on WW and a couple more who started recently. That is pretty

inspireing to me.

Hi Susie and welcome!

I read your introduction with a lot of interest, because we have some

parallels in our lives.

I'm Bette in CA...awake at 1:30 am with a puppy who is having a severe ear

problem, which is why I'm online when usually I'd be asleep!

I began my WW journey on June 1, 2003, and to date have lost 112 pounds on

this WONDERFUL life-change program. It's NOT a diet....I'll go to my

deathbed swearing on that one! It's a change in everything I ever knew or

thought about eating and about control of eating. Like you I have six kids,

ages 9 to 32. I'm homeschooling my two youngest (adopted, ages 9 and 12),

and I've been married to my hubby for 35 years. See the parallels? LOL....

I do the Flex plan....it works for my personality type. I LOVE the freedom

of food choices -- no deprivation at all -- and the counting/recording fits

my proofreader/editor detail-oriented self quite well.

I see a great deal of merit to the Core plan, but have not and probably will

not try it myself, since Flex has worked for me for over 18 months now. But

if I can answer any questions or just generally be helpful to you, please

let me know.

Blessings,

Bette in CA <><

Welcome Susie. From your post, you seem very thorough. I think you will

learn a lot from the process of losing the weight because you investigate

things well. You will learn about yourself, and what you can accomplish

(although raising 6 kids isn't anything to sneeze at ESPECIALLY since you

homeschooled. WOW.

My question is this: What do you do for yourself? That is a recurring

theme on this list serve. So many are doing or have been doing so much for

everyone else that they don't really make time for yourself. WW is

something you are doing for yourself. And I congratulate you on your

decision to reach for your goal.

I tried the core plan for about 1 week and decided that I needed the

comfort of counting the points. But there are some on this list that love it

and have lost many pounds by doing it. 8 pounds is quite a start! Way to

go! and Welcome to the group.

New Member

Hi. My name is Susie and I'm a new member. I had an AHA moment last week,

and now I am doing Weight Watchers. My moment came when I had the thought

that being 100 pounds overweight for the last 13 years was every bit as

much a mental illness as being anorexic is. I thought of going to a

psychologist but decided that I should stay on the diet and then journal.

If nothing else I will be collecting data to take to a psychologist if that

is necessary.

I'm doing the WW Core program, which I think is a wonderful program. If I

just count points I start out eating very well and end up eating all of my

points in potato chips, candy bars, and pop. I must have some kind of

insulin resistance situation going on...

Not sure what else to tell you about myself.... I've been married to a

wonderful man for 29 years, we have 6 kids ages 11-26, we've homeschooled

all of them but right now it's just the two youngest (who both have special

needs), my husband is a ranger, I work evenings in the ER as a unit

secretary, I quilt (but mostly in theory as I really seem to do more

laundry, dishes, shopping, etc than anything else). I love movies and

mysteries and classic Winnie the Pooh. One of my sons just came back from

Iraq today (army) and I'm very thankful about that.

Today I tried wheat grass for the first time, after reading about it on

this list. It was a bit on the nasty side, but fun to try something new.

Just having the glass sitting on the table while I ate lunch made me feel

like I was at a picnic - that stuff is seriously aromatic :-).

I looked up Stop Stuffing Yourself on Amazon and read the reviews. Most of

the people seemed to like it but there were a couple of negative reviews.

I'm just starting the book The Lord's Table. I don't like their diet (too

much emphasis on fasting, which may be fine for the average person but it

just lights a fire under my eating disorder) but I think the bible study

will be good.

About saggy skin - I guess that's the fear isn't it? That we'll actually

manage to lose 100 pounds (or whatever) and then look bad because our skin

will be sagging. I've read that if you lose 1.5 pounds a week or less you

will have fewer problems with sagging skin. I agree that it is partially an

age thing, but I also think that some people just have skin that is

predisposed that way. Whoever said they had lost a lot of weight and wasn't

having a problem THANK YOU - it's a relief to know that could happen!

I weight 239 and I'd like to lose 100 pounds, but my real emphasis is just

staying on the diet for the rest of my life. I'm already a week into it and

down 8 pounds, so I guess that's a start.

I'm happy to have found this group!

Hi Sam--- I just recently joined WW and have been lurking on this group for a

little while. :) I just hit a goal of losing 11 lbs as of today.... 20 more to

go! :) LOL... if I look at it though that I'm 1/3 of the way there... seems a

lot more achievable! ;)

Good luck!

One of my best friends is moving to Clearwater Florida in a month or so. ;) I'm

Hi , and thanx for the welcome. I have quite a bit to lose,

well over 100 pounds. I haven't exactly set a specific goal weight

yet, my first goal is to get under 200.
