Guest guest
Can synthroid go bad? My current Rx of synthroid is for a 90 day supply. I keep it in on the night stand by my bed so I can take it first thing in the morning without forgetting it (since I am very forgetful anymore these days. I was curious to see if that might be a part of why I have been feeling even more run down than usual since I made it to the end of my first 90 days on the synthroid. But then again, what is with my labs! Check this out: First set of labs from Dec 06 that got me finally sent to Endo: TSH 0.52 (0.34-4.82) FT4 0.69 (0.7 - 1.9) Labs done at Endo on Feb 07: T3 Total 136 (60-181) T-4, FREE 1.1 (0.8-1.8) TSH 0.55 (0.40-5.50) Put on 50 mcg Synthroid after PCM forced the issue with Endo. Endo said " labs were fine, no longer needed to be seen " . PCM originally sent me to the INS approved Endo on the notion I needed to be ruled out for Secondary Hypothyroidism. Endo totally blew that off as it is very rare. Honestly after finding a TSH, T4, T3 results chart, I agree with what PCM was seeing. Labs from Apr 07 while on 50 mcg Synthroid: TSH Ultra 0.13 (0.34-4.82) FT4 1.4 (0.9-1.7) and tested for Thryroid antibodies with results of: Thyroglobul AB <1:10 Interpretations: Interpretations reference range: <1:10 Normal THY MICRO AB . . . . . <1:100 Interpretations: Interpretations reference range: <1:100 Test performed by Hemagglutination (I have no idea what all that interpretations stuff means other than my PCM said I don't have antibodies present so I do not have Hashimotos) Kept on 50 mcg and retested labs on May 09, 2007: T3 FREE 3.3 (2.0-4.4) TSH Ultra 0.08 (0.34-4.82) FT4 1.6 (0.9-1.7) I have an appointment tomorrow with a new Endo since I finally got my second opinion referral. Is there something glaring right at me that I cannot see for lack of my understanding? If I do have Secondary Hypothyroidism, would this explain why my TSH is continuing to bottom out while still on Synthroid? Or has my batch of pills expired due to having a 90 day supply that perhaps has lost it's umph? HELP me understand if you can!! Thanks, Kathy
