Guest guest
We've had several new member requesting some suggestions for books to read, to get them started in better understanding hypo. Well.. I learned something today that I didn't now know.. One of our members has published a book on Hypo! Yep... Maureen. She contacted me a little bit ago and let me know... I asked her if she would write a little blurb to introduce the book to you guys and she has... I've not read it.. so I can't say good or bad, but I know she's been an active member here for a while and I figure it's worth a mention. I'm going to pass on the intro she sent to me after we first talked... I'm not sure of availability or anything... for myself I'll take a peek at our library.... Topper () Group Owner ************** Someone recently said they'd just been diagnosed and were wondering if there were any books they should read. I'm a medical journalist and author of 3 books, one of which might be of interest. It's "The First Year: Hypothyroidism" (Marlowe & Company), and the format of it and the rest of Marlowe & Co's First Year Series is really unique. It takes a patient through the first full year, from diagnosis to month 12, of hypothyroidism. I've included my own experience, as well as that of other hypothyroid patients, and top thyroidologists from around the world. From my previous posts, you've probably gleaned that my approach to hypothyroidism is fairly moderate/conservative; in the book, I do talk about T4/T3, alternative therapies to complement treatments, and issues like hypothyroidism and pregnancy, stress, managing multiple medical conditions (one of my specialties!), and dealing with relationships, workplace issues, and depression and weight. I just completed the second edition of the book, which will come out this Fall, and found lots of new and interesting research for it, too. I don't mean this to be an advertisement, and I know that there are lots of good books out there. Just wanted to add mine to the mix, if it seems to fit where you are with hypothyroidism. Thanks!
