Guest guest
How many of you take your basal temperature to determine your thyroid status between labs? Does it give you a pretty good indication of how you are doing? Lori
Guest guest
Yes I take mine all the time. I just took it. It was 94.6. I'm a bit chilly here in Florida. Guest guest
I do... I spot check during the day when I'm feeling 'off' and do waking temp in bed when watching for dosage adjustments. I dont' get to do labs regularly, can't afford them.. so I rely on basal monitoring to determine how I'm doing... I had labs done two years ago and they looked pretty good compared to what I was thinking based on my charting... Just how they did it before the blood tests were invented. Guest guest
I just took mine and it read 98 after ten minutes under the arm. I want to see how the armour is working for me so I'm going to start basal temps in the morning and chart them. Also thinking of testing my 13 year old. She's started losing her hair some. It's long, so I'm not sure if that's it, or maybe she's inherited the disease. Thought about ordering the blood spot test to test her. She is totally against the blood draw in the arm. I'm reading Broda ' book, and see, like you said , that that's how they diagnosed hypo early on. Very interesting! Lori Re: Temperature I do... Guest guest
Granted, I'm weird.. but I find it fascinating to what the numbers.... especially when I was so miserably hypo I could see the fluctuations in temp and pulse rates after a dosage adjustment.. it would go up for a few days and then drop back down a bit, but be higher than it was before the adjustment.. As my dosage went up and my levels went up the fluctuations were smaller and smaller... then it was just slow an steady increases with each dosage adjustment.. until, finally, the numbers were all good... I felt pretty good.. symptoms, well, most were gone... I tend to thing that those that still lingered had more to do with long term poor treatment from the docs than anything else... another reason I think it's important to catch thyroid disorder early and get stuff started RIGHT and not wait until the body is so damaged that it can't bring everything back.
