Doctor dictates, physical examination demonstrates an " arousable " but somnolent

female.

As far as I know arousable is not a word. ( I could be wrong though) lol

This account is basically verbatim, but we can make changes.

Any suggestions on how to recast this without changing it too much.

Thanks,

Pamela

rousable? I searched 3 dictionaries and online, as well, and rousable is

not a word. Arousable is also not a word, but it is derived from arouse.

Being you can make changes somewhat Pam, you may want to try to come up with

a way around using either form and use the base word, arouse.

How about the patient is able to be aroused, but is somnolent?

The patient has encephalopathy with cirrhosis. I think he means that he can

wake her and she can answer his questions.

I decided to leave it as a blank and let it go.

I did a Google search " rouseable " and found multiple medical sites in which

the word

" rouseable " was used in evaluating sedation.

The Brussels Sedation Scale for Patients on Mechanical Ventilation

http://www.ccmtutorials.com/intro/overview/page_07.htm

Glasgow Coma Score (GCS) or the Ramsay Sedation Scale (48). This scale

scores 1 (anxious/distressed) to 6 (comatose); most authorities agree that

the optimal score is 3 (rousable to commands

Also found it on Medscape under discussion on the effectiveness of the

Ramsay Sedation Scale.
