Semi OT - why do TV doctors and TV writers see it but our own docs don't?

Here's a kicker.

I've got the TV on... happened to catch an episode of a show 'The Burning

Zone'

Never seen it before.. don't know much about it.... but this episode....

People around the country are dying of hypothyroidism... seemingly caused

by a new herbal diet drug called Metabothin.. made up drug for the

show...

My point.. they have this show on TV from ten years ago that is showing

dozens of people dying from severe rapid on set hypothyroidism.. but no

one in real life takes us seriously...

Why?
