Guest guest
Well, finally today was the day. Man it was a mess outside. We got 20 " more on top of whatever we got last weekend, and when I went outside I was shocked really. I thought I was back in NY state. So at any rate, I let docs know I know something of medicine just so they can 'talk' to me and so they don't think they can pull anything over on me, and he was really nice. He had to use an extra long mistakenly ordered type biopsy needle someone ordered by mistake, but good for me. Its quite deep and he went in sideways to grab it in the middle and deep in. He took about 7 specimens. What we saw, as I saw it too, was that the 'mass' was square, which he said was not good, and at the lower end was moving out like infiltrating, which of course is not good, and then another thing, which I cannot for the life of me remember because I got home and was aching and exhausted for a lot of reasons not to mention weather and long needles (really didn't hurt), something about the area being somewhat hazy or fuzzy or not well defined or something. I just can't remember. But when he said square, it was so perfectly square and I had not seen that before when the tech did the u/s. So he said normally he feels people have about a 4% cance of malignancy walking through the door, as they do so many bla bla. I had mentioned something like " I know it oculd be 50/50 " ...and that's when he stopped me and said well no....bla. Well, then he daid, with you, it's at least 50/50, maybe 60/40. He put the marker in and I had to have two more mammo views and came home and slept 2 hours, as I was so tired. Well, does any of this sound familiar with anyone? I was SO appreciative of his honesty. I truly feel he was saying, probably, we'll know for sure Mon/Tues, but it looks more like it than not. Which REALLY helps me deal, you know? Well I' m so tired, I must eat and just sit for a bit. Have had to call and email a lot of folks. But will be anxious to hear if any of this is familiar to any of you. Like the square and such. Thanks for reading and helping, I swear, being here has helped me deal so much better with going to the biopsy than had I not. I really really mean that. I felt so much more prepared. I should tell doctors who tell their pts. they need an 'extra' mammo or something. It really has helped immensely. Knowledge is power. Thanks. Pat Have a great day! Guest guest
Pat: Sounds like the radiologist was quite good. At least now you know there is substance to this whole thing. And having the knowledge gives you control in the situation. That has to feel really good. I will continue to keep you in my prayers and hope that there is something positive coming out of this for you. I hope you know, by now, that you are a real trooper. You go, Girlfriend. Take care. He said if its " gritty " it more than likely is cancer. Well it was " gritty " but he said to be 100% sure we would have to wait till Mon. It turned out he was right. I will continue to keep you in my prayers. Guest guest
I asked the radiologist if he thought the biopsy was cancerous and he was very candid and told me yes, he thought it was. I was not surprised. Ruth > > Well, finally today was the day. Man it was a mess outside. We got 20 " more on top of whatever we got last weekend, and when I went outside I was shocked really. Guest guest
Thanks nne. I felt overall I got the yes it was, but then again, I cannot say for sure. I'm just so tired. I think tomorrow it might hit me. The injection is beginning to hurt, must have used a lot of novicaine. But he went in with a needle the size of a spinal. Well, I guess I'll just do what ever it is I have to. But I appreciate his honesty, and we all need that. Thanks for thinking. Pat had biopsy today Well, finally today was the day.
