I posted a few days ago about having the catherization of my heart.

my cardiologist called tonight and understood my concern. He will do

the chemically induced heart stress test first and if things are okay

I won't have to have catherization. He said they are concerned due

to thyroid problem and blood sugar not under control.

Barbara I know I didn't post because I don't have any knowledge of it

What I do know is the Synthroid obviously isn't working for you given your

continuing symptoms and your horrendous TSH.............. and you haven't

really given enough Armour a trial..............think you were taking 1/2

grain with your Synthroid?

Have you had saliva tests done to determine whether or not you need adrenal

support?? You may not be able to tolerate even a tiny amount of Armour if

you do.

Most people need between 3 and 5 grains of Armour to get well, but it is

raised slowly starting off at a low dose

Yes it is wise to have the heart tests done but remember there may be

nothing wrong with it.Please please seriously consider giving Armour a fair

trial or at the very least a T3/T4 combo......I want to see you well

There may be other issues..... like your pituitary gland, think there's a

condition there that causes problems other people will have more knowledge

of that

Barb,

Good! You do know they call the Thyroid " The Master Gland " ?

It can affect all our organs. That's why getting levels stabalized is

so important.

Did you get a chance to talk more about your thyroid levels, will he be

rechecking those too?

Hi, Barb,

Sorry I didn't post sooner! I'm on vacation, so am not reading posts regularly...

I, too, have cardiovascular disease, along with other diseases, including Hashimoto's. You're very smart to be working with your cardiologist on getting to the root of your heart problems, and it sounds like he's listening to you and being conservative about procedures. I've had numerous stress tests, although never a chemical-induced one (because I have asthma). They're arduous to go through, but can yield a lot of info for your cardiologist to go forward. Are you having a thalium stress? Those are especially diagnostic.

Getting your thyroid condition and diabetes under control will help, too. But you're very wise to pursue the cardiology angle as you are.

Good luck! Keep us posted

Probably not much response, Barb, because a lot of us may not have detailed

info about heart catheterization. I mean, I know what it is, but can't

advise on when, where, how, or why, so better for me not to answer, cause it

might be dangerous for me to do so, being as I know so little about it.

This is one time when talking to the doc is definitely better.

IMHO, I do not agree with this statement and have found it to be very

detrimental to myself. Some or many people do need this amt of thyroid, and

I have heard all the reasoning behind this over the last few yrs. I realize

that people who don't have adequate adrenal function (me being one of them

also) are probably not getting the amt of hormone they need, due to the

adrenal problems, but after scrutinizing this thing about the 3 to 5 grains

over and over for a very long time, I just don't agree with this. I think

that this is so highly individual, and many experts that I've read over the

last several yrs even disagree on the amt of thyroid hormone normally made

by a healthy thyroid itself, and this is where the problem comes in. Some

really informed experts do say that a healthy thyroid used to make less than

this at one time, it depends on how that person's healthy body used to

uniquely run itself to remain healthy. This is where I split waves (this is

just one thing) with the thyroid site in question, and if you don't agree

with them TOTALLY over there, then you are basically shunned on acct of it.

That is why I am no longer active on that forum, though I do see some other

great info over there and do admire many of the people involved in it. I

think, however, that the " one size fits all " thing is exactly why there are

so many thyroid forums, and this is just as much that same thing, to

proclaim that everyone used to created 3 to 5 grains of thyroid in their

bodies, originally. What I discovered is that all body changes, aging,

etc....make a huge difference on what it takes for any of us to feel well,

and, for me, my body runs more efficiently on a little higher amts of T4,

with some direct T3 added, better in the natural form, since I can't make

enough of my own. No, I don't feel wonderful, but much better than I did,

there could be some improvement, but the high ratios of T4 to T3 in Armour

are not for me. What I take right now is 150 synthetic T4 (not Synthroid)

plus the 30 mgs of Armour, am self treating, but don't really want to be,

want a good inexpensive doc who is well informed, but doesn't cost much

(what's that saying, wish in one hand and do what in the other, lol?). I

did make a temporary change, but got all kinds of symptoms from it, so went

back to this. What I've been taking for the last almost couple of wks is a

couple of quarter tabs of the NutriMeds adrenal supplement, and this is, so

far, working out for me much better than it did before, to my amazement. At

55 it seems to be ever-changing, transition-wise. I think that I am now

becoming POSTmenopausal, so there have been many other imbalance problems

due to these changes. Thyroid affects EVERYthing in a much worse way than

it might have ordinarily been. My mother always says that she barely

noticed menopause (doesn't have thyroid disease, but HER mother did, so it

probably came down through her side), yet my sister and I, both, have been

through sheer living hell on acct of it, and I strongly believe that my

sister has thyroid disease, my deceased brother had, but my sister has had

so much trouble getting diagnosed, and my bipolar, alcoholic brother never

was diagnosed.
