I had my second appt with my endro today here are my results

Thyroglobulin Ab 92.0 range 0.0-25.0

Thyroid Peroxidase Ab >1300 range 0.60

T3 101 range 80-200

Cortisal,random 11.5

T4 free 1.59 range0.89-1.76

T4 11.4 range 4.7-11.4

TSH Ultra sensitive L 0.056 range 0.350-5.350

FSH 4.6

Testosterone 18

Estradiol 98

My previous doctor told me I was going through meno when I was firts

diagnosed with Hashi but this doctor says Im not. He told me that to

lower my thyroxine from 150 to 125 and have my bloodwork redone in

6wks. I told him that my periods are every 2 - 3mths. He said that my

ovaried have temporaly stopped working and he thinks its due to

stress as the past year I lost my brother(suddenly from heat attack)

then my mother (lung and bone cancer)whilst trying to sell my house

in land to move to Ky to be with my husband (whom had had a job

transfer). So I guess it may be due to stress........what do you guys

think after reading over my bloodwork? My sex drive is dead so the

doctor said to buy some DHEA and self treat myself with that and let

him know how I feel when I go back in 6wks....OR wait until we

complete another batch of tests. Im always tired so I was suprised to

find I was hyper!! If anyone has any advice I would Love to hear from

you. Thanks in advance.

TSH L 0.056 range 0.350-5.350

T4 free 1.59 range0.89-1.76

T4 11.4 range 4.7-11.4

T3 101 range 80-200

You are feeling tired and worn out, not because of stress, although it

could be a part, (((((hugs)))))) sorry to hear about the year you

had..you are feeling rough because you are hypo..and your doctor

lowering your meds is going to make you more hypo..

A quick thyroid 101..

TSH is Thyroid Stimulating Hormone..it is not a thyroid hormone but a

pituary gland hormone..it is used to regulate how much thyroid hormone

your body thinks it needs or does not need.. ( JMO but totally useless

once you have a diagnosis)

The thyroid produces two main hormones, T4 and T3..T4 is considered the

storage hormone and the main hormone the thyroid produces.. Synthroid

is a synthetic T4 only replacement medication.

T3 is considered the active hormone, the hormone the cells use and that

you feel.. the thyroid produces a little T3 but most of the T3 is

produced by the body converting T4 to T3..

Not rocket science..just sounds fancy.. T4 is Thyroid hormone with 4

iodine molecules, strip one of and you get T3.Thyroid hormone with 3

iodine molecules.

Now this is where hypo vs hyper differs and comes into play on the

labs.. certain hormones( female hormones) and other reasons control

something called TBG..or Thyroid binding Globin.. 95% of the thyroid

hormones are bound to TBG and circulate through your body until called.

This test.. T4 11.4 range 4.7-11.4 includes the total T4, so the T4

that is bound, and the T4 that is free..with you being at the top of

the range your TSH is low..and why idiot doc things you are hyper.

Now a few years ago, they figured out a way to test only the T4 that is

free.. that is the T4 that your body is actually able to use.

This test..T4 free 1.59 range0.89-1.76.. now Synthroid manufactuers

themselves state that when supplementing with Synthroid the aim should

be for the upper 1/2 of the range..although most people do post that

they prefer the upper 2/3 end of the range..so with your range

Synthroid says 1.325-1.76..the upper 2/3 range gives you 1.47-1.76..so

your Free T4 of 1.59 is not only in range but is looking pretty good..

Now not to long after they figrued out how to test for the free T4,

they also realized the same issues regarding what is bound and usable

played a role in T3..and they have a test called Free T3..

Your test..oops doctor did not run it..but he did run a Total T3 test

on you..T3 101 range 80-200..now this is the total T3..so it includes

both bound and Free T3..remember what I said earlier T3 is the active

hormone..the hormone the body uses and feels.. your T3 is hiding in the

basement..no wonder you feel like crud..

With such a high Total T4 and such a low Total T3 where is all that

hormone going? You need to work on things to help with

conversion..Sellenium helps..eating a well balanced diet helps..

Unforunately if it is because of menopause/hormones etc..either waiting

it out or taking a supplement to try and lower the TBG helps..if you

wanna feel like you have been feeling and wait it out..

or Cytomel which is a synthetic T3 only med would help bring up that T3

and help you feel human again.

Unfortuantely you really need to staple the lab sheet with the T3 to

the docs forehead so the doc notices it..I can see the error if the doc

did not run the test..if the doc only ran TSH and Total T4..then just

maybe..although we would all call bad labs with your symptoms and tell

you to get Free's done..but the doc ordered the other tests and did not

look at them..

Now this is just me..if that was my ENDO..I would ask the doc how come

you feel like crud, have a normal Free T4 and how lowering your

Synthroid is going to bring the T3 out of the basement..

The ENDO's answer will let yo uknow if this is a doc you can work with

or not.. if not take your labs to another doc and ask about the T3.

Hi Janis,

No way are you hyper !!! Your FT3 (I presume this is a Free, if not it

should be) is way below mid-range - mid range being 1.40 - and most people

feel best with an FT3 at the top of the range - if not slightly over ! Your

FT4 is just above mid-range - mid-range being 1.33. For most people it

should be in the upper third of the range. If your doc said you are hyper,

he is just going by the TSH, and knows nothing about the frees. If you

reduce your thyroxine you are probably going to feel worse ! DHEA is a

wonderful thing, but before taking it you ought to be tested to see if you

are lacking it. Too much not good. And it is totally irresponsible of him to

suggest you just try it like that ! Can you find a new doctor ?????

Thank You Thank you for your informative response. Im going on a hunt for another doctor. I have Tricare Prime Insurance so my choices are limited here in lexington KY. I need to find somoene quick because I only have enough thyroxine for 10days plus a script for Synthroid 125mg from that prat of an Endo. I also forgot to mention that my blood pressure is Low plus I randomly feel dizzy and weak. What thats all about I dont know. I have lost 4lbs this past month but that could be connected to Celiac......im so trying to stay on that diet but its hard :( especially when you dont have many symptoms. LOL, if you show him the part about the idiot doc and stapling it to his

forehead, he MAY get his ego a little fluffed up, hehe, but it is absolutely

true. ly, if this doc CAN listen to reason, I would definitely edit

that part out of it. : )

THIS sounds so much like Adrenal Fatigue (low blood pressure and feeling dizzy at the same time), that it's almost unmistakable. Prime feature of it, very classic. I have high blood pressure, probably because of the hypo damage that has occurred to artery walls, etc.....so it would not longer be a prime feature of mine, i.e., LOW blood pressure.
