I have been on both... depends on the doc, tests, and the rotation of

the moon around the doctors dogs behind (thats just a guess on my part)

Im on Armour right now and dont have any complaints. Elaine was kind

enough to email me and told me about a Dr Utiger on the ATA website who

talks about not dosing by TSH in cases like mine (which I looked for

and cant find) but I have to say, I didnt much like what I was reading

on that site, or the various links I followed. It seemed to really

push TSH testing and I couldnt find the mention even of Armour Thyroid

as a treatment option. I am sure I missed the good stuff, as I seemed

to be caught in a loop as I was trying to search for something

specific, but, it was depressing to read over and over how a simple TSH

test yearly and POOF! You'll be fine! It also said some nonsense

about weight gain in Hypo ... it says usually only two to three

pounds. Yea, EACH DAY FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE!!!!!

Who keeps putting this brick wall in my path? Dont they know Im too

tired to climb?

'rotation of the moon around the doctors dogs behind'

that is about THE most accurate rationale I've seen, for some of these

docs, that I've ever seen!

*nods head in TOTAL agreement*

As far as what is our focus here? Natural or Synthetic?

Sorry.. not that simple, as far as I'm concerned.

Though natural thyroid was the magic for me, which makes me pro Armour -

and it's generics, for some folks the T3 is too much and they do great on

synthetic T4 is their magic. for others they need a combo.. so that is

their magic.

What it all boils down to is that each of us is able to learn enough to

understand how this stuff works and be able to make educated observations

and decisions to be able to work with their doc, or know when to fire a

bum doc, to be able to find the right type of hormone replacement (for

thyroid AND adrenal if that is needed as well) and for the supplements

and food choices that support their 'new' body.

For as much damage and Synthroid and it's clones did to me I'd love to

see the stuff removed from the planet... but that would make me as blind

and uncaring as some of the docs many of us have dealt with.. that

wouldn't be fair...

For myself, I've come to the conclusion that it doesn't matter if it's

natural or synthetic that gives you your quality of life back... it's

that you get it back.
