Guest guest
I am learning, too, but I will give you what I have.Cortisol is an adrenal number and 8 seems low for a morning number. Usually they do am and late afternoon tests at least.Yes, ferretin would be better higher but since mine is 6, I would love to see 23.I consider your B12 really low. I try to keep mine around 1000, I take shots twice a week. Even my quaky doctor thinks the normal levels for B12 are extremely low.Peggy, bluesparklepony wrote: Does anything jump out as odd here? They look low to me, but I dont know what it means. My doc (who is no longer my doc!) doesnt care as they are in the normal range. MUCH THANKS!!! Cortisol (AM) 8.0 (6-28) Ferritin 23 (9-120) Prolactin 7.67 (0.0-25.0) Vitamin B12 272 Normal: 180-914 Indeterminate: 145-180 I am on meds for fatigue... and I wonder if one of these tells results a story? I know the Ferritin and the B12 could be better. What test would show anythign about Adrenals? Doc said she ran a blood test, but I dont see anything blatantly called adrenals on this form. Anyone know what I should look for? I have a bunch of results in front of me. I'm also online looking this stuff up myself... wish me luck! Since my memory bank is the size of an ants tail, Im pretty much toast. But trying! Peggy in TN We won't tell. Get more on shows you hate to love(and love to hate): Yahoo! TV's Guilty Pleasures list. Guest guest
Cortisol is the adrenal test.. they only show one time... AM... this isn't the most accurate way to be checking this.. you want four times per day to show if the adrenals are firing properly... this one is low for a morning sample though. Low Ferritin (storage iron) will affect how well your body is able to utilize available thyroid hormone, so will low B-12.. so yeah. getting those levels up will be a positive move. Calling 'in normal range' and calling it a day is not my idea of proper medical care when your patient still feels like dog doo doo.. good for you for firing the dope! What meds for fatigue? Most of that stuff is going to increase the stress load to the adrenals... low adrenal hormones also reduces your body's efficiency in utilizing available thyroid hormone. Guest guest
I was told Ferritin should be between 70-90, and B-12 should be around 800 at least, to feel better. Does this sound right? Guest guest
Hi Peggy, I know my ferritin is low (me 25 range 10-291) so I'm supplementing with iron but I'm not sure about B12. My doctor is going to check that at my next visit. Guest guest
You can get the sublinqual B-12 at all health food stores and maybe regular pharmacies, too. I never looked. I don't know how old you are; but the older you get, the more apt you are to have a B-12 deficiency. I even saw recently that they are beginning to link B-12 deficiency to Alzheimer's. Unless you are severly overdosing on B vitamins, the extras all come out in the urine.PeggyLori wrote: Hi Peggy, I know my ferritin is low (me 25 range 10-291) so I'm supplementing with iron but I'm not sure about B12. Guest guest
I'm 35 years old, so where does that put me? I've read that low thyroid can cause low B12. Have you heard that?
