How long should you wait before adding new supplements? For example, I

just added B6 Monday and would like to add Vitamin C. Should I wait at

least a week or is that being too conservative? Thanks, Lori

you don't have to wait to add supplements. most vitamins and minerals complement each other. the only thing you need to be careful about is iron and calcium and magnesium......you want to take the iron atleast 4 hrs apart from the others. vitamin C can be and should be taken with any of the others.........................freckly3321 wrote: How long should you wait before adding new supplements? When you say wait for the calcium and magnesium is that because of thyroid meds? Or should you not mix those together? I already wait to take my iron at lunch. I take my multi at night. I donot take an extra calcium or magnesium supplement right now except for what's in my multi vit. I want to add magnesium eventually. Thanks, Lori

For myself... to keep things simple for me... my pill boxes, I can set them up for 12 days at a time. So I do my changes in supplements or dosing based on the pill boxes.. Supplements I can add, one at a time, with the next pill box set up. Right now my thyroid adjustments are done every 4th set of boxes.

I like to wait a week or two as my rule of thumb for supplements, if it weren't for the pill boxes.

Mostly, keep notes.. when you did the changes and any observations, positive or negative, so that you can refer to those notes if you need to... sometimes it's the only way to get started on searching for a cause/effect reaction (good or bad).

Just how I do it, my thinking on it...

just keep iron and calcium away from each other and away from thyroid meds. you can take calcium and magnesium together and it's better that way anyway, they work better together and take them before bedtime.Lori wrote: When you say wait for the calcium and magnesium is that because of thyroid meds?
