Guest guest
Hi Cappy, I take my first one as soon as I wake up, aiming for between 6:30-7am.... I then try and take the 2nd no later than 1pm, otherwise, I'm up till midnight or later! I also have to try and work around my calcium schedule, so it gets a little confusing. Hope this helps. in PA age 30 (6/21) dx Hashimoto's 5/2000 dx pap by FNA 6/27/03 TT 7/17/03-main lesion 2.1x1.9x1.0cm on isthmus, multi-focal-pinpoint (1-3mm) lesions throughout both lobes, 1 lymph node removed Accidentally got a parathyroid, couldn't remove from thyroid Currently on Cytomel, RAI scheduled 10/7/03 ~Our lives can change with every breathe we take... let go of the past... and embrace the future.~

I took the first one at 7am, is 3pm ok? Hi, Cappy - 3pm should be absolutely fine. You'll know if it's too late in the afternoon, if you find it hard to get to sleep at night. > Also, since the synthroid/levoxyl has not left my body yet, won't it be over kill for the first week or so? Probably. Some doctors recommend beginning Cytomel after the second week, some have a gradually increasing schedule (1/2 pill a day after a few days, 1 a day for the second week, 2 a day beginning with the 3rd week. You may also find that it works better for you to split the pills in half and spread them out throughout the course of the day (but still not taking it at night). Guest guest
> Hi Cappy, > > I also have to try and work around my calcium schedule Cytomel is very different than T4. I didn't have a problem with calcium and T3 like you can with T4. T3 gets into your system right away, so even if the calcium interacts with it somewhat, you still get the benefit of the hormone. T3 doesn't have to be processed by the body, it's just there, NOW. T3's biggest drawback is that it's so powerful and fast, so please be careful with it, and don't exceed 50mcg/day. If you get hypo symptoms like a radical heartbeat, irritability, etc., check with your doc, or simply cut back a bit. Those of us who get cytomel learn to use it in a way that benefits us without hurting us, like splitting the dose several times through the day, and understanding how our bodies respond to such a fast-acting, powerful hormone, and moving our dose down or up(not to exceed 50mcg/day), depending on what we need, kinda like a cop directing traffic; you want traffic to flow, but not too fast so it gets out of control and not too slow so it jams up. Just gotta pay attention..... T3 is a short term thing anyway, and you probably don't have to be as picky with it as you do with your T4. Guest guest
- Good catch! I did mean be careful of HYPER symptoms. I've gotten so used to being in hypo mode, I wrote the wrong thing. OOPS! My apologies. Joanne > > T3's biggest drawback is that it's so powerful and fast, so please be > > careful with it, and don't exceed 50mcg/day. Guest guest
I can tell you what Cytomel is doing for me. I feel like someone on a manic high or at least I think this is how it would feel. (I kind of like it after being exhausted all the time.) Except, I have trouble keeping my mind on one thing at a time and I can tell by the way I talk that I am really hyper. I talked to my sweet dil this morning and she said she was worried because I sounded so hyper. She said, " I'm afraid what will happen when you crash. " I was up 20 hours yesterday and then couldn't go to sleep without a sleeping pill. I think I may have slept about 6 hours. Boy, this is weird. So (Topper) I'm not taking any Cytomel today. I just took the 2 grains of natural. Can you really buy this without a Rx and Adrenal hormones, too? You know What? I trust me more than the doctors!!! I know my pcp will run the TSH and T tests, do I need free T3 and T4 or what? I didn't have my thyroid destroyed or removed but when I had parathyroid surgery 4 years ago, my surgeon said there was nothing left of my thyroid. It had completely dried up. So, I am totally dependant on supplementation. I don't know if it dried up from overwork or from supplementation for nearly 50 years. BTW, I notice I was taking Thyrolar a year ago. What is that? That was when I first went off Levo. Peggy
