Guest guest
A lady named Arleen at my local YMCA is truly a " bionic woman " ... less than two years ago she had her breast removed but then got a horrendous infection that spread like wildfire in her body and they prepared her for death... not from the cancer, but from infection. However, she decided it was not her time and fought back, and now she is very active and happy at all the Y events and outings... but guess what? They had to amputate one arm below the elbow, one leg above the knee, and the other leg at the ankle!!!!!! They fitted her with fake limbs and she keeps up with the rest of us. She even regularly bowls, although I have to admit she walks to the edge of the alley and simply drops the ball and it may or may not hit a pin or two about five minutes later. But she laughs about the situation more than anyone, as proud as a peacock about her accomplishments! I try to keep Arleen with her always cheerful and positive attitude in mind when I am feeling glum. I cannot imagine what she went through such a short while back!
