Guest guest
Hi -- My surgery wasn't as long ago--I only had a lumpectomy with sentinel node biopsy done mid-January this year--and I have the same weird numbness in the underarm area. Gosh, I was really hoping it wasn't going to be oddly numb forever... Guest guest
, I have some numb spots on ther back of my arm and back. I get that itching sensation in those areas on occasion. I think it has something to do with the nerves. Guest guest
This is a form of phantom pain...it's often experienced by people who have had amputations. This website has a pretty good basic explanation http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/phantom-pain/DS00444/DSECTION=1 My granddad had his leg amputated after a steam shovel fell on him, and often spoke of it feeling like he had something stuck between his toes. Interesting, since he didn't have them anymore! (BTW, I never liked that book, " Mike Mulligan and His Steam Shovel " ...scared the heck out of me!)
