I started to ask for the results at my appt, but I was so confused trying to make sense of everything he was telling me that I couldn't think straight. I should try to run by my drs office tomorrow and get a copy from them, I have two drs with the results... Seems like one of my results said 1.04 maybe my t4 but i dont' remember anything elseSee what's free at AOL.com.

If you're dealing with an autoimmune issue, Grave's or Hashi's, the iodine is gonna make it worse.

Having levels in 'normal range' doesn't tell enough... knowing where they are in the normal range, when you have symptoms, is gonna give you a much better idea as to what is going on.

Say, for example, the doc is using old lab ranges, and many are, for TSH.. you could have a TSH up toward 5.0. Now say your Frees are at the bottom end of their ranges... that's flat out hypo when accompanied by symptoms... yet everything is in 'normal range'.

Get the idea???

Any chance you can call up the doc and get the results, with ranges, so that we can see what he's checking and what things look like?

So I finally made it to see an endo today. I forgot once again to get my lab results for you guys but I remember my uptake was 33.9%, my tsh was normal, my t4 was normal. my antibodies were high.

Whats confusing to me, is that every symptom I have points directly to hypo, but he said my uptake being slightly high pointed toward hyper. He pretty much said that I had some type of autoimmune disorder that was attacking my thyroid and that it was just too soon to tell what was going on. That it could, at this point go either way, hyo or hyper..... He ordered another u/s in 3 weeks. I am just ready to find out what is wrong so I can begin feeling better.

He also told me to increase the iodine in my diet and that may help with some of the symptoms I am having.... Input please?????

I am so confused....

Something else I forgot to add was that he said one side of my thyroid seemed to be too small, possibly shrank or something and the other side felt enlarged. and he also said the surface of it felt like sandpaper????????? the radiologist that read my results sent in that there were so many nodes on my thyroid there were too many to count......See what's free at AOL.com.

Remember... we need the ranges too...

*smile*

They usually show up after your level in either parenthesis or brackets

so TSH might look like this:

1.25 (.3 - 3.04)

.... except your's might not be 1.25.. but you get the idea, right? They might have some letters (units of measurement).. but mostly look to make sure that range is there

Hi Amy

I was shocked to read your pst. It sounds like the same DX I am

going through. Except my doc has just now ordered a MRI for next

week. Graves and Hashi's came up in conversation, too. it makes me

a little nervous to hear that the pituatary may be the reason.

Good luck to you and keep me posted

Amy,

It’s probably hashimoto’s and

that is what is making you hypo and feel bad. Did he put you on any

thyroid meds? From my understanding you need to be on them to suppress

the anti-bodies.
