Guest guest
Has anyone experienced itching on the port-a-cat? I am taking Herceptin and I get a full package of infused Benedril before the infusion of Herceptin and it seems about a week later, my port-a-cat itches. I will check with my onocologist but have any of you experienced the same and is there anything you take or put on it. (I take information gleamed from here when I talk to my onocologist, which is great.) Thank you, Anita ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ Never miss an email again! Yahoo! Guest guest
itching and redness and dryness; i'm using Bag Balm to try and take care of it. it went away for ahwile and then came back; i'm also going to try using a different laundry detergent for my clothese while may help it. if not i'm checking back with my oncologist office, but they were the ones that recommende the Bag Balm in the first place. -------------- Original message -------------- Has anyone experienced itching on the port-a-cat? Guest guest
A lot of drug stores in our area carry bag balm, some of the fabric stores or quilting stores also carry it or a similar product (Udder Cream). If you can't find it there check with a livestock feed store. The original use of both bag balm and udder cream was to keep the udders of milk cows from cracking while being milked. Both are great products, udder cream is more like a lotion bag balm reminds me a lot of the Aquaphor that is recomended for radiation. They don't smell hardly at all and are non-toxic because of their original use. in Denver. > > > itching and redness and dryness; i'm using Bag Balm > > to try and take care of it. it went away for ahwile > > and then came back; i'm also going to try using a > > different laundry detergent for my clothese while > > may help it. if not i'm checking back with my > > oncologist office, but they were the ones that > > recommende the Bag Balm in the first place. > > > > -------------- Original message -------------- > > From: Anita > > Has anyone experienced itching on the port-a-cat? Guest guest
I've been using Gold Bond First Aid Quik Spray for the itch on my portacath and for the itch/rash on the back of my neck. It cleared them both up in a couple of days. Also been using the Aloe Vera gel I got during radiation for the portacath and neck rash and it seems to be helping, too. The Gold Bond Spray is an antiseptic spray and the primary ingredient is antiseptic menthol to stop the itch. > > > > > itching and redness and dryness; i'm using Bag Balm > > > to try and take care of it. it went away for ahwile > > > and then came back; i'm also going to try using a > > > different laundry detergent for my clothese while > > > may help it. if not i'm checking back with my > > > oncologist office, but they were the ones that > > > recommende the Bag Balm in the first place. > > > > > > -------------- Original message -------------- > > > From: Anita > > > Has anyone experienced itching on the port-a-cat? I will Mine itches from time to time, but only since my tissue expanders were placed. I haven't received chemo since November, so I know it's not from that. At first I thought it was from the strap from the sports and surgery bras I've had to wear. I stopped that for two weeks and the skin above the port is still irritated. Next week I'm getting my regular implants and I hope that helps to " settle down " the irritation. -Frances - -Frances Bartels *** ki0dz@...
