Guest guest
Anita, the Costco house brand is " Kirkland " . I checked the label and it has 500 mg of calcium and 200 IUs of Vitamin D, so the other figures I gave you must be one I took before. I went to the web site of the National Osteoporosis Foundation (link below) and it meets their recommendations. Look for the USP " seal of approval " because that means it's been tested and has what it says it has. There are many different generic brands that should be fine for you. http://www.nof.org/prevention/calcium.htm Ellie --------------------------------- It's here! Your new message! Each TBSP dose has 500 mg calcium; I take one in the AM and one at bedtime. The body can only absorb up to 500 mg calcium at a time. -Frances -- -Frances Bartels *** ki0dz@... Guest guest
My rheumatologist colleague recommends calcium citrate (Caltrate) with vitamin D for calcium supplementation. I take the generic. One trick, when you get your tablet, see if it dissolves quickly in water. If not, then your body is probably not going to be able to utilize it well. He also states that most people are deficient in Vitamin D. This is not only needed for the body to utilize calcium, but deficiencies can cause fatigue, muscle aching and weakness. Your doctor can do a test to check for Vitamin D levels. Maggie Szafranski in E. Central Illinois IDC Dx'd 12/14/2006, neg SNB, ER+PR+, S/P bil. breast reduction, to start radiation today.
