Hello!

I'm wondering what it is like to get your meds in the US...the cost

and whether you can buy them over the counter. See, in Turkey I can

buy 100 pills of synthetic T4 (Tefor) for 2.94 YTL--or about 2.18

USD. I can go into any drug store and say what I need and they'll

give it to me without even needing to look at my prescription. It's

very, very lax. In the US, what is the price? (I know how the

prescriptions work there).

Thanks.

Dawn from MN in Turkey

Hi Dawn,

My synthetic T4 costs me $8.00 per month using my husband's prescription program through his employer. I'm also taking Armour which costs me $10.00 for a 90day supply through a mail in program that his employer offers. Otherwise, the Armour would be $210.00 for 90days!!!! Isn't that just crazy?? I used to live in Minnesota in a little town called Owatonna. It's in the Southern part of Minnesota. Due to hubbies job we're back in Nebraska now.

You had me curious... I just checked Costco Pharmacy. You don't have to be a member to use the pharmacy...

Armour runs about $15 per grain for 100 tabs...

so $30 for 100 2 grain tabs

$45 for 100 3 grain tabs...

They have Qualitest, a generic

1.5 grain tabs are $10.00 for 100

If the link migrates.. here is the link that will take you to the page with all the prices for various sizes and brands of Synthetic T4.. including Synthroid, Leveoxyl, etc.

http://www.costco.com/Pharmacy/frameset.asp?trg=HCFrame.asp & hcban=Banner.asp & hctar=DrugInfo.asp & log= & rxbox= & fromscript=1 & qf= & srch=synthroid & Drug=SYNTHROID & Article=SYNTHROID
