Guest guest
I am trying to figure out if i have low progesterone levels since the docs aren't saying a thing. actually they say that my levels are fine. i am concerned because of the miscarriage i had in 2005 and haven't gotten pregnant since then. OR it could be that i am getting pregnant but losing it early on due to low progesterone levels?? I want to post some old numbers....my fertility doc that i am seeing now doesn't seem to think it is a problem so he isn't going to test me for it............ Blood: 3-25-05, 18.7, Day 20 of my cycle 12-13-06, 26.1, Day 21 of my cycle Saliva: sometime in 2006, 29, Day 9 of my cycle I may have one more result that is much more recent, will have to look for it........... Guest guest
Estradiol 13 range is 5-13 normal for follicular stage? Progesterone 29 range is 20-100 normal for follicular stage? Your Estradiol (Estrogen) is clear at the top of the range. The Progesterone is clear at the bottom of the range. So I think you could use some. Below is info from the HRT group. Sami http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalAlternativesToHRT/ When a woman goes through menopause whether it be natural or surgical, her estrogen drops 40-60% because we still produce it by way of body fat, plus it is stored in the bowel and then gets recycled back into the blood stream. Our progesterone, on the other hand, drops to near zero and we no longer produce it anywhere else in our body like we do the estrogen. We may still produce a very tiny amount by way of the adrenal glands, but by the time we enter menopause, our adrenals are so exhausted that they are no longer producing much progesterone, if any at all. When our estrogen level is higher than our progesterone level, we start seeing a lot of ugly symptoms such as sudden weight gain, loss of libido, loss of hair, loss of sleep, depression, moodiness, high blood pressure, heart palpitations, restless leg syndrome, itchy crawly skin, vaginal dryness, hot flashes, night sweats, bowel problems, yeast infections, headaches, high cholesterol, insulin resistance and the list goes on. Estrogen causes water retention and weight gain. Also the more weight we have, the more estrogen we are going to produce. It's a vicious cycle that never ends until we get our progesterone level up and balanced with the estrogen. There are some women who are fortunate and don't gain the extra weight. These women may need to supplement with estrogen, but most of the time, we have found that progesterone was all they needed. The reason for this is because progesterone is a precursor to estrogen, so if the estrogen level is too low, the progesterone will in most cases go in and wake up the estrogen receptor sites and they start producing estrogen again and gets the level up to where it needs to be. Drs. make the mistake of putting women on more estrogen when their level is already HIGHER than the progesterone. They'll either put them on horse urine (Premarin) or estradiol which is the hormone responsible for stimulating breast cancer cells. The key thing that we want to do, is get our progesterone balanced with the estrogen, by supplementing with a good natural progesterone cream in order to bring back hormonal balance. Once we supplement with a good natural progesterone cream and get our progesterone level balanced with the estrogen, these symptoms start going away. > > I am trying to figure out if i have low progesterone levels since the docs aren't saying a thing. actually they say that my levels are fine. i am concerned because of the miscarriage i had in 2005 and haven't gotten pregnant since then. Guest guest
hmm, but does it depend where you are in your cycle as to whether you're low or not? also, where can i get natural progesterone? is it better to take prescription? i doubt my doc would rx it.................Sami wrote: Estradiol 13 range is 5-13 normal for follicular stage?Progesterone 29 range is 20-100 normal for follicular stage?Your Estradiol (Estrogen) is clear at the top of the range. Guest guest
I don't know how 'natural' mine is... I get it from Puritan's Pride and it's worked well for me. It's OTC I use it during the summer months mostly... helps me with tolerating the heat tremendously! I use it at about 1/2 the suggested strength... I'll be starting up again for the season after my next period. I didn't get pregnant for the first ten years of my marriage (that I know of - like you said, the loss could be too early to even notice). Then, I got pregnant several times, in the next ten years, and lost them all due to low progesterone levels. I was able to carry one pregnancy to term - thanks to progesterone supplementation. My daughter is now almost 9 years old. Never got pregnant again after I had her. She was born when I was almost 41. Do you have a good reproductive endocrinologist? I can tell you, my RE is the reason I got one pregnancy to go full-term. in Okinawa
Guest guest
All I did was copy and paste from the HRT group. LOL! The owner from there joined here a long time ago and about that time I joined her group. Since I'm in my forties, I figured I might need to know a little some day. At least when my doc wanted me to take soy in January to raise the estrogen for menopause. I could tell her no and why. I have bought some progesterone from Walmart to use. But I'm still not taking it serious since I'm not having hot flashes and what symptoms I do have I figure are thyroid. Sami > > Thanks Sami.. They have had some babies born because of the progesterone creme. They can tell you which is the best and how to use it. http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalAlternativesToHRT/ I have been lurking there under another name for a couple of years now! Guest guest
I was a member there for a while too... I make the rounds every so often, seeing what groups are around and visiting for a while.. Some I stay for a few months, others only a couple of weeks... just to see what's out there. My first jar of cream sat here for over a year before I finally broke down and used it... the effect it had on me was pretty amazing, to me. I had a horrid problem with excess sweating. This house is ALWAYS too hot for me, so I just figured that was a huge part of it. But it was to the point where just standing up and washing dishes had sweat running down my back and dripping off my chin.. it was BAD. and exhausting. The body has to process water and body fluid into the sweat that comes running off. I started on a really low dose of the cream. I can't remember off the top of my head how soon my body responded.. but it was a joy to not have sweat running off anymore. I messed with it for a while and found that by using it during the hotter summer months, when the outside air was too hot to cool off this room and my bedroom, that using the cream helped my body to better manage temperature in itself. Not sure of all of the mechanics of it.. this is going to be my third summer using it. I still plan on using only a 'half dose' since that had been doing the trick for me.. Considering it's gonna be in the 80s again today, I'm wishing that I'd started it after my last period.. oh well.. just have to be patient... it's our middle name, isn't it?
