Guest guest
I've been having small shooting or prinching pain in my right side (where the cancer was). Not constant, and not VERY painful, but concerning. I told my doctor and he sent me for a CT - haven't seen the final report but radiologist came out to tell me it looked good. I'm sure it's normal to be paranoid about every little ache and pain, but does anyone else remember or experience this? I am almost 4 months post surgery, just finished taxol, pre-radiation and pre- tamoxifen. Thanks.
Guest guest
Watch it and if you get any kind of fever or the pain increases, then go to your ER. Right now it could be tissues healing and pulling on each other, that tends to hurt and happen, but if anything is going on, an abcess or whatever, then you'll know in short order. But watch for a fever and/or swelling/redness. Good luck. Pat " Pinching " Pain I've been having small shooting or prinching pain in my right side (where the cancer was). Guest guest
, I know exactly what pains you are talking about...I used to call them my " gottcha's, " almost to the point they would take my breathe away. I kept thinking something that painful must mean something is terribly wrong. My breast surgeon and oncologist both agreed (It's been 2 1/2 years for me A/C/Taxol/Radiation/bilateral mastectomy) that it was " healing " nerve endings, honey and nothing you should worry yourself about. Trust your results and know it will get better. Best, ************************************** AOL now offers free email to everyone. Find out more about what's free from AOL at http://www.aol.com. Guest guest
, I didn't have that problem but I am wondering if it could be the nerves. In the beginning we ARE paranoid but as time goes on it does get better. You will be in my prayers. Most mastectomies leave us with numb and dead spots. Some get sensations back, others don't. Isn't it fun applying deodorant, let alone shaving, with no sensations.....NOT! I'm massaging myself regularly and have almost all tactile senses returning, but I sure understand what you mean. I'll be talking to someone and get a wincing expression on my face cuz of some wierd shooting thing out of nowhere, hoping they don't notice. Privately, I'm thanking God for allowing another nerve to grow back. Kathleen
Guest guest
I have experienced this small shooting pain in the area just before the pectoral muscle. Sometimes it will travel just along the scar from the incision. There is some pulling there, too. I thought it was probably part of the healing process. Mysterious? Guest guest
Hi.. I have just recently been experiencing this same shooting star like pain!! Where my nipple would be in the reconstructed breast.. what scares me is that is exactly how the cancer was found because of that pain! But I keep saying, its abdomen now... so I did mention it to the onc and she said to watch it... I'll monitor when I feel it... wonder if its when I'm more actively using my left arm?! Who knows.. or just the ongoing healing of radiation since they say that takes a year, or even just scar tissue, who knows anymore at this point, right? Guest guest
I finished up my radiation a week ago. Over the weekend, I started having pain down my right side from under my arm to below my rib cage. It almost feels like I pulled a muscle or something. This is in addition to the sharp stabbing pains I get some times shooting through my right breast. It hurts to stand up from a sitting position and also when I first lay down. I'm monitoring it right now. If it gets any worse I will call one of the doctors (radiation or medical oncologist). My lumpectomy and sentinel node biopsy was on Oct. 27th, re-excision on Dec. 1st. Started radiation on Jan. 10th and finished up on Feb. 20th. Has anyone else experienced this type of discomfort? Thanks, Manassas, VA
Guest guest
I didn't have radiation so can't help you out there but I would call one of your doctors. No need to be in pain. Guest guest
Hi - I also had a lumpectomy followed by radiation. I am 6 months past surgery and 2 months past radiation. I also get the pinching -shooting pain that comes and goes. The radiation oncologist told me that it is from the damage to nerve tissue and may take many months to go away. I didn't need chemo and now am on tamoxifen. I definitely understand how you feel. I have my 6 month post surgical check-up today and to top it off- I came down with with some kind of virus-low grade fever with a cough and body aches. I am going to have the doctor check it out. Yes- I am scared- normally I would think it is just a nasty cold since I teach- but after cancer all sorts of things go through my head, too. Take care Eileen > > I've been having small shooting or prinching pain in my right side > (where the cancer was). Not constant, and not VERY painful, but > concerning.
