Guest guest
has anyone seen their natural hair color return and the texture of their hair change after startng thyroid medication? i began graying at the age of 22 and now i'm 34 and over 50% gray and also the hair on top is super dry and coarsea and thick. the hair underneath (the layers underneath) are super soft and shiny. well, i started armour this saturday!! it's only 1/4 grain but i'm being slow and cautious. so far, i don't feel anything but it's only been 2 days and it's only 1/4 grain. i think i'll increase next saturday. i'm excited having started. Guest guest
My texture/feel went back to normal when my dose was right.. then go crappy again when I had to short dose and ran out.. now it's slowly coming back again... Hair color... no luck for me there.. I used to be a blonde. Now I'm mouse brown, no gray, 49 years old. Part of the hair color thing MIGHT be that I used to be outside all the time.. even my jobs were mostly outside.... now I have to make an effort to get my 15 minutes of sun a day for vitamin D production. I do that to protect my bones.... you need the D with the calcium to keep bones healthy.. and I get my calcitonin from the natural thyroid.... Guest guest
No dx here but I have grayed quite abit...quite abit these last few years. While I did find some gray hair in my teens, it began to really sprout up about 27 and then horrendously so these last few years. This is what I found: my hair darkened first, became course and then greyed. The grey (really silver) is thicker and wire " e'. The rest is " fine " hair. I used to have beautiful, soft, naturally highlighted medium/light brown hair. That changed. I suspect this is the way it goes for those aging...but yeah, at our age...doesn't seem right. ~Kate > > has anyone seen their natural hair color return and the texture of > their hair change after startng thyroid medication? i began graying at > the age of 22 and now i'm 34 and over 50% gray and also the hair on top is super dry and coarsea and thick. the hair underneath (the layers underneath) are super soft and shiny. > well, i started armour this saturday!! it's only 1/4 grain but i'm being slow and cautious. > so far, i don't feel anything but it's only been 2 days and it's only 1/4 grain. i think i'll increase next saturday. i'm excited having started. > > > > > --------------------------------- > Never miss an email again! > Yahoo! Guest guest
Hmmm...I wonder if there is a connection? I usually color (Loreal) every 6-8 weeks, but have noticed, since starting synthroid 6 weeks ago), that my color is coming back. Usually by now, my natural part and the " sideburn " area really gray. It's just a touch right now and my hair is so shiny and healthy looking. Would be interesting to understand gray hair. > > > > has anyone seen their natural hair color return and the texture of > > their hair change after startng thyroid medication? i began graying > at > > the age of 22 and now i'm 34 and over 50% gray and also the hair on > top is super dry and coarsea and thick. the hair underneath (the > layers underneath) are super soft and shiny. > > well, i started armour this saturday!! it's only 1/4 grain but > i'm being slow and cautious. > > so far, i don't feel anything but it's only been 2 days and it's > only 1/4 grain. i think i'll increase next saturday. i'm excited > having started. > > > > > > > > > > --------------------------------- > > Never miss an email again! > > Yahoo! Guest guest
I can't speak on the gray part.. but getting the thyroid levels where they need to be do a LOT for both the texture of the hair and it's growth...
