Guest guest
I've been reading posts here for a couple of months. Our daughter, , was born 1/16/07 and has CHARGE. She spent her first 3 1/2 weeks in 3 different hospitals and was back in for a heart repair surgery that went great. She is a little trooper and doing ok. We don't take her anywhere except to the UW hospital/doctors and her pedi to avoid getting sick since there she has so many medical issues. We are thinking of going to the Charge conference in CA. My mom is helping out while I work a few days a week and has offered to watch while my husband and I go to the conference. Are others with babies (under a year) bringing the babies? I would definately want to take her to the next conference when she is 2 1/2. Are there siblings attending the conference? 's 13 year old brother is interested in going. Guest guest
Margaret, You would love the conference.. So much info there that will help you prepare for the stuff you will have coming up, and finding a whole new family you didn't jknow you had. as for sibs going, your son will find many kindred spirits there, plenty of othere sibs, many his age.. I'm not sure about this conference but past ones have had sessions for sibs and other activities for them. Welcome to the list. We're more excited than ever because we've made so many new friends with the birth of our latest CHARGEr. Hope to meet you there! Guest guest
Hi Margaret! I'm so glad you'll be coming to the conference, there really is nothing like it to me. As for the baby, lots of babies have come to the conferences before and been right in the sessions with us in their strollers or with a grandma/other caregiver. My son is 16 and will be coming; my other son came also a few years back at age 14 and really enjoyed himself. The siblings seem to have a great time and I think it's great for them to see so many other families who experience the same things their family does. When my older son went a few years ago, he chummed around with another sib-brother whose mom also participates on the list; maybe your boy can chum with them this time! www.chargesyndrome.info > > I've been reading posts here for a couple of months. Guest guest
My 11 year old daughter is really looking forward to returning for her 3rd conference & re-connecting with the other siblings (and daughters of one of the presenters) she's met. It's a great experience for the whole family. It helps to normalize everything that you feel like you're experiencing all alone. We had our charger, Eddie, in the pool wearing a t-shirt and a little boy asked if he had a g-tube button under there Don't hesitate to bring your son. joanne > I've been reading posts here for a couple of months.
