Guest guest
Hey Belinda. I am sorry you are so nervous! Keep in mind that everyone who will be with you is a professional and they have done these surgeries many times. You will be in good hands. If you can do some deep breathing, maybe you can get your calm back. Or a nice walk. While you might not see the doc. Before the surgery, you will have trained surgical nurses who will take good care of you. WE will be thinking of you and waiting for word from you. Don¹t read the bad stuff!!!! Everyone has ³horror² story but for every horror story, there are many more success stories. I hope your day gets better ;( to pam > > > > > I am FREAKING OUT!!!!!!! > > Im supposed to have an operation tomorrow in about 12 hours which i THOUGHT > was only going to be a tonsilectomy and turbinotomy(sp?) but my mum rang up > the hospital today and apprently they told her im down for UPP as well???? > > Now im reading all this bad stuff about it and freaking out about all the > complications... Guest guest
How can you not see the doctor before the operation?? ALL of Eva's have come in and made sure we knew everything that was going on. I would tell the nurse when you get there you want to talk to the doctor before anything happens. I will be thinking about you and praying. Guest guest
If you have questions, tell them when you get there that you want to speak to the doctor BEFORE you are brought into the OR. Don't take no for an answer. Any doctor who is unwilling to answer my questions does not work on Kennedy and that includes right before a surgery. Hugs to you girl, > > I am FREAKING OUT!!!!!!! > > Im supposed to have an operation tomorrow in about 12 hours which i > THOUGHT > was only going to be a tonsilectomy and turbinotomy(sp?) but my mum rang > up > the hospital today and apprently they told her im down for UPP as well???? > > Now im reading all this bad stuff about it and freaking out about all the > complications... Guest guest
Belinda, Amen and ditto everyone else. No surgeon should operate on his/her patients w/out meeting and discussing the procedures with them. Just be forthright in explaining that you deserve your questions answered. Try, as Pam said, some deep breaths and any other relaxation techniques that will help. Stress will not be good for you before surgery!! We're here, praying for and thinking of you. Take care of yourself, and stop reading the internet about these upcoming surgeries:). Get your info straight from the horses mouth! Guest guest
Thanks Everyone (((BIG HUGS))) UPP is where they reduce, or i think just move the uvula, which is the thing that hangs down in the back of your throat...ive just read that it isnt that effective and it KILLS lol Im having a Turbiltomy (SP?) too , where they take some bone tissue out of your nose... I am going to be expressing my concerns as soon as i get there to the nurse... Belinda
Guest guest
Apperently it is effective for dealing with sleep apnea. and i suspect whoever said the opperation kills (is very painfull) is a little over dramatic. Still do talk to your doctor. Good luck though! Chantelle -- I have 4 eyes, 4 ears, a guide cat and a cat that speaks mouse! - me
Guest guest
Bel, I agree with everyone. Talk to the docs and hopefully they will set your mind at rest. The internet has its place but it is open to anyone to state their views whether correct or not. Don't know much about your surgery but will be thinking of you and hoping it goes well.
