Hi Group

I am still awaiting several results from tests and an appointment

with an Endo. She is booked until June/July. I am fine with that.

It will give me time to research and learn more about hypo on my

own. I specifically asked my GP to test my Adrenals and he said it

would notbe necessary. hmmm I thought. He did not hesitate to order

an US and RAIU scan. I keep telling myself that stress and

exhaustion is what brought on my condition. On my off days i do not

feel to far from my normal self. If I get enough sleep and exercise

i feel great. I recently started a Liver Detox in hopes that will

boost me up, I also have been sitting in our Far Infrared Sauna more

frequently. This has helped also. After reading the groups post on

Adrenal questions I wonder if I should again ask to have mine

tested. This seems to make sense. I have also come to the conclusion

that I am not interested in medicating with Synthroid. i want to try

to heal holistically. I have no problem seeing the docs for further

testing, etc. has anyone seen a Doctor of Osteopathy? I am looking

into seeing one.

Here are my latest blood levels as of 2.5 weeks ago...

TSH 6.5

T3 84 low

T4 normal range (i have the number written down in the office but I

am too cozy to get up! Is that a hypo Symptom? JK !)

Any advice on what nutrionals worked best for anyone or other advice

would be appreciated.

All my best for a wonderful week ahead for everyone,

Ali

Ali:

Its great that you want to do reasearch and check out

what others have to say. I'm not sure you will find a

way to successfully treat your thyroid without

replacement, so don't be too surprised if some folks

will want to push you toward that.

The liver detox and detox programs in general are

often times a little controversial, and as I'm sure

you've done your research, you are aware.

I am glad your doc is running an ultra sound. Did he

tell you what he was looking for?

Day after day, day after day,

We stuck, nor breath nor motion;

As idle as a painted ship

Upon a painted ocean.

Water, water, everywhere,

And all the boards did shrink;

Water, water, everywhere,

Nor any drop to drink.

~The Ancient Mariner

Ali...

In determining which approach to take, nutritional supplements, herbals

etc, or hormone replacement.. it's gonna depend mostly on what is causing

your gland to be sluggish. If it's an auto immune issue, or physical

damage, or post surgery or RAI.. the nutritional support angle may help

short term, but in the long run you'll likely still be facing using

hormone replacement.

When considering hormone replacement, there are options there, Synthroid

would be a synthetic/man made choice (that would include all the

synthetic T4 replacements) or you could go with naturals, like Armour.

There you're getting real hormones and not just chemical soup.

Just something to consider.

Right now your TSH is suggesting that your body doesn't feel it has

enough thyroid hormone, the higher the TSH value the louder the call from

the pituitary to the thyroid to kick up production of hormone. We'd need

to know the values and ranges of the Frees to know beyond that.

...and... not wanting to get up to get something cuz you are comfy IS a

symptom!!!

*wink*
