Well.. I spend a few days using my sock brace, after that just made sure

to keep the sleeve on that arm rolled down as a reminder not to reach or

lift. It was starting to feel better.

After the larger hurts right around the elbow settled down I could feel

the pull of the tendons up into my shoulder and down into my wrist. So

that confirmed that it involved the tendons, to me anyway, which in

turned stressed the muscles.

I was sleeping good for a few days by going to sleep hugging the arm. But

then I started having trouble with it stiffening up during the night. By

morning it would be teary eyed painful to get to straighten. So that

wasn't working quite right.

I took a couple of Tylenol Thursday, the first pills that I'd taken since

the arm started to be a bother and whatever it did to me I ended up

falling asleep in my chair.. luckily I was leaning back and didn't end up

with keyboard face!!!

That led me to believe that there was still some swelling and stuff going

on in there and maybe I wasn't sleeping as good as I thought.

So I took two more at bedtime Thursday, that worked pretty good. The arm

wasn't all stiff Friday morning. Yesterday, Friday, was my big cooking

and baking day. I took care not to reach or lift with hat arm but other

wise went ahead with mixing, stirring and even kneading bread and all

worked out well.

I took two Tylenol at bedtime last night... and, well.. I slept five

solid hours without budging.. I woke with not so much as a wrinkle in my

sheets. But had a bad dream, that's what woke me, and ended up not being

able to go back to sleep for a couple of hours. Gimpy arm, even though it

had been as motionless as the rest of me for that time, wasn't all stiff

and sore. That was cool. When it was time to get up, I woke a few minutes

before the alarm, I decided to do some simple range of motion stretches,

to see what it would be able to do... I can bring it almost all the way

straight before it begins to pull...

I'd say it's healing... but I'm still gonna be taking it easy for a

while. It was pretty scary for me, to have such limitations and pain...

I don't think I want to risk either being something that comes back or

stays permanently.

Having been one of the 'lucky' in dealing with years of chronic pain, I

think I still have a pretty high threshold, but don't have any great wish

to have to deal with it again... Pain now and again from an injury or

over use.. okay.. that's part of life.. but not the 24/7/365 kind..

didn't like it the first time around.. don't need to go back!!!

Thanks again for everyone that helped focus me in on what was going on

and what to do to help it settle down and get to a healing stage.. I'm

still slow to heal, with low med levels, but I'm heading in the right

direction now.. not like the first two weeks I just hoped it would settle

down and go away on it's own.

Day after day, day after day,

We stuck, nor breath nor motion;

As idle as a painted ship

Upon a painted ocean.

Water, water, everywhere,

And all the boards did shrink;

Water, water, everywhere,

Nor any drop to drink.

~The Ancient Mariner

Glad it is feeling better..remember to take it easy..just because it is

not hurting or falling off does not mean it is not injured still.

You betcha.. learned that lesson the hard way, and still slip now and

again.... and each time you reinjure, it takes even longer to come back..

So it really pays to take care the first time..
