Guest guest Posted May 3, 2007 Report Share Posted May 3, 2007 Hi Everyone, My name is Beth & I am new to the group. I was diagnoised with Hypo- Thyroid when I was in middle school. I am now 29 years old. I have been on Synthroid & Levothyroxin, and have had no relief. Tired, anxious, moody (this is a big one), hair falling out, no menstrual cycles, infertility, the list seriously goes on & on. I got so fed up with the lack of results that I finally just stopped taking the medicine all together. With some help financially from my parents I was finally able to go to an all natural doctor who took my blood work and my levels were off the map. My TSH level was 150. He said that is the highest he has ever seen anyone before. Anyway, trying to make a long story short he hooked me up with another doctor who perscribed me with Armour. I started taking it today. (60 mg. twice a day) I have heard lots of people say that once they started taking Armour how much better they felt. I am hoping for the same outcome. I am tired of feeling the way I feel and living my life this way. So I am here to learn more and share in my journey hopefully to feeling better very soon!! It is good to hear that you have know found a doc that appears to be taking care of you. He seems to have started you at quite a high dose and I would advise watching that you don't get hyper symptoms like palpatations, nervousness and increased appetite. With the way your TSH being at 150 it most likely will not be a problem but thought I would just mention it just in case. It may take awhile for you to feel better but I think that in the next few weeks you will start to see a big difference in how you feel. Did they check your adrenal glands at all? I ask because when you have been hypo for so long and not really getting the right meds it is a big strain on them and they become exhausted. They will also need some help if this is the case, so it might be worth mentioning to the naturopath next time you see him. Thank you for the tip on watching for hyper symptoms. I had a whole slue of test done, I think they checked my adrenal glades, but I'll have to go back and look through my results. There are so many of them and I don't understand how to read alot of them, so it can get confusing! The doctor that perscribed me Armour is different then the one who ran all my test, but the two work closely together. I hope you are right, and that soon I will start feeling better! Guest guest Posted May 5, 2007 Report Share Posted May 5, 2007 Hi, Beth.. How are you doing on your dose, I'll agree with Dawn that's it's pretty high for a starting dose. Your body might suck it all up right away or may be a bit persnickety... no well to tell until you've been on it for a while. What doses of Synthroid and Levoxyl were you on and how long were you off that before being able to get back in for testing? You're more than welcome to post your labs here, with ranges, and we'll help you to understand better what they are saying. It can be confusing at first, understanding the tests and what the numbers mean, but we can help. I'm one that doesn't do well on the synthetic T4 meds either, so don't feel like you're an odd ball... there are a few of us in the same boat!
