Dear Coalition Members,

We had a very successful effort in the House. Eighteen

Congresspersons from 10 different states have signed the letter

requesting increased funding for the deafblind technical assistance

and dissemination program at the Department of Education.

We are beginning a similar effort in the Senate. Senators Ted

Kennedy (D-MA) and Kerry (D-MA) are leading an effort to send a

group letter to the Senate Labor-HHS-Education Appropriations

Subcommittee asking for the increase in funding.

We need your help! Please call or email your senators and ask them

to sign onto the group letter supporting more funding for the

deafblind technical assistance and dissemination program at the

Department of Education. If you send me an email identifying your

state, I will send you the contact information for the specific staff

persons who handle educational issues for your senators.

Here is what they will need to know:

Senator Ted Kennedy and Kerry are leading the group letter in

the Senate. The staff persons coordinating the effort are Kelsey

Phipps in Senator Kennedy's office at: kelsey_phipps@...

or , or Dawe in Senator Kerry's office at:

chris_dawe@... or .

Copies of the letters are attached.

Please call or email today! The deadline is Monday, April 9th.

Please let us know when you have contacted your two senators so that

we can follow up. We follow up on your communications to offer

additional information and remind these offices of the deadline.

Thank you.
