Guest guest
Hey my people!!!! Sorry i have not posted but here and there! This is Sandy from los Angeles. I've finished 4 rounds of A/C on the 9th! I've experienced a little bit of all the side effects and was able to still woork my 2 full time jobs until now...My 2nd neulasta shot The pain is horrible and what;s more odd, its only in one portion of my body(the upper left side and down my left arm. I went to the ER because they say (the instructions on side effects inside the box)If you experience left tip shoulder pain, go to the dr immediately, the spleen may be enlarged) So, this is what I did, they took x-rays of my shoulder but not my spleen and sent me home. I've been changing up between vicodin and 1600mg motrin....pain still there...I've used a home massage pad....nope...Last night I finally used the stinky stuff(icy hot) a little better... I'm gonna call the dr and ask him to prescribe just something to knock me out. Because if the 2nd neulasta shot did this what's gonna happen after the other 4 shots and 4 rounds of Taxol!???? Anyway, for the newly diagnosed, you're in the right place,Welcome to the group! Does anyone have any suggestions? ouch(smile) Sandy from Los Angeles
Guest guest
Hi Sandy, Sorry to hear you are in such pain. My suggestion would be moist heat if you are not already using it instead of just the reg heating pad. You will be in my prayers. Guest guest
Hi Sandy, I would fill the bathtub with hot water or stand in the shower under hot water until I felt a bit better. I also took 500 mg of Vicadin when I was taking the Taxol. But the hot water helped me. Thanks, Anita --- & nne Svihlik moochie1@...> wrote: > Hi Sandy, > Sorry to hear you are in such pain. Guest guest
Dear Sandy, I feel for you because the Neulasta was the worst thing about chemo. I was in such pain for about 3 or 4 days after the shot, like I had the flu. The nurse said that some people even think they are having a heart attack because the pain in the sternum (breastbone) is so bad. You are doing about everything you can at this point. Be glad your Dr. gave you vicodin, mine would not give me anything stronger than Celebrex! the good news is that the pain stayed about the same intensity after each shot, so it probably won't get any worse for you as you progress through treatments. good luck with the remaining treatments! Guest guest
--Hi, when I took neulasta I also had pain. The thing is I had four rounds of adrimycin/cytoxin and then four of taxol. My leg anf joint pain was so horrific that the dr. had to prescribe morphine. There is nothing like that pain. you will be in my prayers. w.rogers - In breastcancer2 , " lazeee3 " wrote: > > Dear Sandy, > I feel for you because the Neulasta was the worst thing about chemo. > I was in such pain for about 3 or 4 days after the shot, like I had > the flu. Guest guest
Forgive my ignorance but is the Neulasta shot the one given to raise our White Blood Cell counts? If it is, I remember my oncologist prescribing it after my first A/C treatment because my WBC count was still very low. I remember my nurse coming over after my A/C treatment and telling me that she was giving me a shot in the arm and that she was going to give it to me very slowly because it could hurt. She would inject the medicine slowly, then stop for a minute, then inject a little more, then stop for a minute and I think she did that 4 or 5 times. I remember thinking, just hurry up and get it done with already, but Amy, my nurse, knew better than I. I don't know if injecting slowly will help, but I did not have any side effects. Hope this helps, Anita --- lazeee3 lazeee3@...> wrote: > Dear Sandy, > I feel for you because the Neulasta was the worst > thing about chemo. > I was in such pain for about 3 or 4 days after the > shot, like I had > the flu. Guest guest
Anita, I guess I'm one of the few lucky ones, I had 8 neulasta shots and didn't have a problem with any of them.. no pain, no side affects, nothing... I do believe she can give it to you in the butt, and I would tell her to just do it, it shouldn't need to take 4-5 stop and goes, they aren't sticking the needle into the bone and any side affects wouldn't come directly after the shot anyways... Sorry I can't be of much help but do ask about your options!! I has xrays of my neck, shoulder etc. the dr saw me on thursday, when i was still having bad pain, that he didn't understand. He aid it may be an old injury and the neulasta brouhgt it out...(that's possible...I used to do lat pull-downs at the gym) Anyway,he told me to take 2 viocodin(5mg only) and a muscle relaxer It was much better last night, of course I'm a little sleepy(can't have everything)!
