I have a couple of questions, I hope someone could answer for me pls. Do

charge babies all have problems with swollowing? Is it true that if the

child survives beyound that all or most of the symtoms go away? Talking to

Ellen, I'm starting to think the genetisist ( dealing with my daughter)

doesn't know much about charge at all. Along with charge do they have other

major problems?

Not all babies/children with CHARGE have swallowing issues. I dont think

most of the symptoms go away. Vision and hearing dosnt go away. Neither does

swallowing nessisarily. Sometimes it improves for some people. others it

stays the same or gets better then worse again. Heart defects can be

corrected sometimes, other times it cant. Facial palsy is another one that

can stay forever. I guess i dont understand fully what you mean by the

syptoms go away. Sure the life threghning stuff does but the other symptoms

dont go away. Plus the charge teens and adults will develop new health

issues as adults too.

I hope this answers a few questions.

Thank you Chantelle,

You have answered them. I was sent papers after my little girl had past,

that when the child reaches the age of 5 that most or all symptoms will

disappear. It wasn't making sence to me when talking with you guys. I now

know not to belive sooo much in what was sent to me. Thanks again.

i'll tell you what - it sounds to me like you could really do with some

correct and appropriate literature on CHARGE - if not the charge manual then

at the least some of the websites... i'm sure there are some favorites

here... but the charge foundation link would likely be a good place to

start... of course i just looked for my bookmark and i can't find it right

now but i suspect someone else could help... ugh, and i'm the www bookmark

queen - also some of the family pages from here could be informative - i'll

look for appropriate links when i get home from school - but in the interim

maybe look under the links file of this group's main page... or maybe

someone else will jump in as well.

sorry i'm not more help
