FORT BEND COUNTYDEPARTMENT: EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES JOB

TITLE: LIEUTENANT - TRAINING

SUMMARY:Provides supervision, instruction, guidance, and evaluations of

field personnel to ensure compliance with established standards and

practices. Participates in planning of programs and objectives for

clinical training. Interfaces with the public to provide information

and training. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Maintains comprehensive

computerized patient care database. Reviews employee*s records, field

performance, patient care, and record maintenance. Compiles data

concerning medical treatment and documentation for completion of

performance evaluation. Ensures the field care provided meets or

exceeds minimum expectations of the department and medical director.

Responds to medical emergencies as required. Provides guidance on

current and required procedures. Maintains liaison with field staff.

Instructs Emergency Medical Services continuing education classes, and

is responsible for maintaining certification as an Emergency Medical

Services Instructor. Assists and/or instructs other employees with

their duties. Reviews work of other employees. Performs annual

appraisals on field personnel related to clinical performance. Assists

with testing of applicants, and recommends selection of new employees

and promotions. Recommends equipment expenditures for unit. Signs for

and is held financially accountable for equipment issued. May be

responsible for County vehicle after hours. Participates in activities

and duties related to emergency management during a local state of

disaster as directed by appropriate county managers. REQUIREMENTS:Two

(2) years technical school in Emergency Medical Services Para medicine.

Texas Paramedic Certification or license; Texas Emergency Medical

Services Instructor certification.(instructor certification must be

obtained within six months of employment); Associate Degree in Para

medicine or job related field preferred. Five (5) years job related

experience, supervisor experience in EMS or related field preferred.

Excellent computer skills, including strong computer database management

skills; excellent written, verbal, and organizational skills. Ability

to interact and deal effectively with employees, elected and appointed

officials, and the public. Excellent interpersonal skills, including

persuasion, diplomacy and problem solving. Ability to use discretion

and deal effectively with the public, employees, and elected officials

in sensitive and confidential matters. Valid Texas Driver*s License;

Maintain Medical Director Level *D* credentials; Prefer Instructor

credentials in CPR, First Aid, ACLS, PALS, BTLS/PHTLS, PEPP, Incident

Command. Subject to 24-hour emergency call. SALARY: Grade, 11

minimum $1,640.64 biweekly or higher based on applicants
