Guest guest
Hi, all. I have Hashi's and am hypo. My last med increase made no change in my TSH, it is still around 6. Anyway, I had an ultrasound last week and here are the results: Inhomogeneous (I think this means generally bumpy, commin in Hahsi's/thyroiditis) No defined nodules Some calcification that could be related to carcinoma Based on the last item, I have a biopsy scheduled. I'm not scared of the procedure, I'm scared I have thyroid cancer. And I have an 11 month old baby girl. I can't even go to work I'm so distraught. I think I just want my thyroid removed. A pathologist will be conducting the biopsy. Are there any questions I should be asking? Is there calcification in the gland itself or are there teeny nodules? I can't find anything on the internet related to calcification without nodules. Thank you, Irene

Guest guest
It's probably going to be areas within the thyroid that are calcified. Thyroid cancers are slow growing, with two types being the most commom, Papillary and Follicular, with Medulliary being the detrimental one. Medullary is rare. I've not had thyroid cancer, and I kind of think you're right about the nodules, but not sure. However, they are saying you don't have nodules? Strange! Anyway, you're right, if you do have thyroid cancer, they WILL remove your thyroid, with your permisssion, of course. You probably need to talk to a whole lot of folks you've had this experience, and I think there are plenty on this board. Biopsy Tomorrow > Hi, all. > > I have Hashi's and am hypo. Guest guest
Thank you and Kats3boys for the info. Very helpful. They didn't say that I didn't have nodules, but there is no dominant nodule and the gland is inhomogeneous. I was trying to find out if calcifications occur without nodules within the gland or are the calcifications teeny nodules. One conern that was mentined is because there is no dominant nodule that the sample may be poor and I would have to get a scan. So, I'm not comfortable already in relying on the results, especially if they are benign. I just feel like this won't ever be over. I'm prepared to just have them take the gland out instead of doing the scan. Why drag it out.... Guest guest
After reading the info, it sounds like I may have microcalcifications....I wish it were black and white! > > > > Hi, all. > > > > I have Hashi's and am hypo.
