Please....as I asked yesterday...what has been unprofessional?? What has been

ugly?? Like I said, I have not seen anything in the debate about what if any

differences there are between pre-hospital professionals who do different types

of work that would make me think we were being unprofessional...

I don't belong to lists?meant for?real estate professionals, but I am certain

that the discussion there would at times cause non-real estate professionals to

question the professionalism of real estate professionals who are debating

issues that come up in that line of work...but I would hope that those debates

wouldn't be stifled by one non-member of that profession expressing their

opinion that they feel the discussion is unprofessional.? One of the nice things

about technology and the internet is that it allows us to experience, learn,

debate and discuss issues and ideas with people in volumes and venues that we

never could do in person.? This is and will allow ALL professions to grow and

expand further than ever thought possible...because it is?through the sharing of

ideas and thoughts?that we all grow and expand ourselves and thus our sphere of

influence.?

BTW, political correctness is?a term applied to?language ideas, policies, or

behavior seen as seeking to minimize offense.? I see that post by you as timely

then and now...because attempting to stifle free speech in the name of political

correctness is the same as attempting to stifle it in the name of

professinalism...

I thank you for your presence on our list, however I would ask that you please

allow us as a very young profession to continue to talk, argue, and debate

unabated amongst ourselves.? If you have?pieces to add to the discussion (like

you did on PC) please share...we can always learn from the experiences of much

more?tenured professions such as real estate...but please use caution in

attempting to stifle a debate in the name of " professionalism " as you may very

well prevent another lurker who was getting to the place where they would post

their opinion and thoughts (for the very first time) that could shed light on a

topic or expand someone's own beliefs leading to a better individual doing this

job every day.

Thanks for going back thru archives to dig up my then-one and only

post and applying it to something that has vitually nothing to do

with political correctness....futile at best.

Call it what you want, but what I was referring to was the PERCEPTION

of professionalism, Dudley, that the taxpayers that fund your service

and other government-based ones will have as a result of reading

this. By all means continue your " debates " ; I'll continue reading

and laughing. Remember, reality itself doesn't bite...only the

perception of it.

Andy,

This is precisely what makes the difference.? Rick is correct that paramedics

coming out of school are all the same....paramedics.? It is who they decide to

go to work for and the effort those folks put into them that makes the

difference...no matter if they go to work for an agency that does all 911, 911

and inter-facility or just inter-facility.?

Honestly as dollars get more and more scarce, many of the 911 folks who have a

tendency to look down their noses at the inter-facility crowd may find

themselves doing inter-facilities as well to help make ends meet....

I totally disagree with Rob (not sure that I know who he is) but the above

statement definitely does not hold true. This is a poor argument. Ask any of

the medics that came to our service with a paramedic patch, if they are the

same medic after NETP school with us. NETP stands for New Employee Training

Program. It is a two week course and totally changes the outlook and

training of paramedics. Also, no two Paramedic schools are equal in their

teachings

as the other. While I wish that the statement were true, it isn't.

Rob does need to gain respect for all medics and try and realize that

thinking like his, sets us back 25 years.
