Hello my name is Tina I am 38 years old and on 2/2/07 I was diagnosed

with stage 2 infiltrating ductal carcinoma. I have a husband and 3 kids

and I am not sure what to expect. I know I will have lots of questions

as time goes on. Right now I am still in shock. I look forward to

reading your stories and learning about what to expect in the coming

days.

Thank You,

Tina

Welcome Tina,

I was diagnosed with infiltrating ductal carcinoma in May 1990. I had a

mastectomy, 6 mo of chemo, no radiation and no reconstruction. I had one bad

node out of 23.

Try to take things one day at a time. Hour by hour if necessary. We are all here

to support you. Please ask any questions you may have or vent if you are upset.

You will be in my prayers.

Hugs

Welcome Tina,

Sorry to hear about your diagnosis, however, that is why we are all here.

This is one of the best places you will ever feel comfortable..The women here

are amazing and like a 2nd family, as I have just joined a few weeks ago

myself.. I would be lost without their ongoing support..

Keep us posted!

Peace and Prayers,

Michele

Hi, Tina,

Welcome to the greatest website there is. Receiving a diagnosis of any kind

of breast is unnerving and frightening. Take a deep breath and breathe. Let it

soak in and then cry as much as you want. Lots of us have been with you are

right now with different diagnosis. They made it and so will you.

You will receive more support and caring and hugs and prayers that you could

ever imagine. My support, care, compassion, hugs, and prayers are there for you

now.

Early diagnosis, treatment and sometimes lumpectomy and/or mastectomy help

make cancer beatable. You'll see. We have been there, too.

Take care.

Hi Tina,

You re amongst the greatest, strongest and most intelligent

ladies. They are the most courageous people I know. I am 22 years out

from my masts. I was 39 with two young boys when diagnosed. I've now

seen one pass the bar and is now in entertainment law. The other went

through college and received 4 degrees which I was there to see and he

has just this year presented me with my first grandson. There is life

after breast cancer!

My best advice is to take one day at a time now. It's a very scary

proposition being diagnosed. Learn all you can and ask all the

questions you can think of whenever you think of them. Remember,

someone is here 24 - 7.

Blessings, prayers and positive thoughts to all.

Hi Tina, I am so sorry hear about your diagnosis and certainly know

what it's like to not know what to expect. There are a lot of great

women here with good advice; I really have come to enjoy coming here

and being able to count on someone telling me something on any given

day that's going to make a difference about how I feel about what's

happening to me. I can't tell you everything to expect but I can tell

you to expect to have a lot of information thrown at you from doctors,

etc. Sometimes I feel like I need a medical degree to understand it

all; I still don't understand all of it and I think I'm a pretty

intelligent person with a good learning capacity. But sometimes it

gets a little overwhelming. Take your husband to doctor visits with

you; I found that having someone else with me who might hear something

I missed while I was concentrating on understanding something else

is/was vey helpful. How old are your children? I have a 6 year old

boy. While he understands that Mommy is sick, had to have an

operation, lost her hair, etc. he just doesn't know, and I don't want

himm to know, or understand what " cancer " is. All I've really told him

is that sometimes I will feel bad for a while but that I'll get better

and if I'm grumpy sometimes it's only because I feel a little icky that

day. I guess it depends on how old your kids are as to how much

information to share, but sometimes I think less is more. Wondering

how many of you all out there agree with me on that. Just keep reading

and posting Tina...ask questions if you have them. There are others

here with a lot more knowledge than I have but I can help with some of

the stuff....like kids:)

Welcome Tina,

Sorry to hear of your diagnosis.. this group is amazing, I myself just

started posting and the response here is great like a family. Actually,

sometimes

better than family, since we are all here for the same reason..

Hope you are able to find some answers and support here..

Tina -

Let me echo the sentiment that Michele put forth. I was diagnosed in

August and I found that this was a great place for all the

information that I needed to help me deal with the diagnosis.
