,

I was told once diagnosed and placed on medication that I would always have to take it. It seems unreal that a doctor would say that you are cured. I was told that a spontaneous healing happened so rarely. The problem is that there is so little awareness about the thyroid and its disorders,. We need to advocate some type of education or advertising so that more people are aware of the thyroid, how it works and how to recognize a possible problem.

They educate people or mass public about possible terrorism but, not enough about how to stay healthy with proper info on the thyroid. Sure there are books written but, it needs more publicity and more attention.

Hello all!

My name is , I'm 30 (something) and live around the Atlanta, GA

area (born and raised in Florida).

Was diagnosed w/an underative thyroid when I was 13, got put on

Synthroid, lost 50 lbs during the summer. After about a year, they

took me off the meds...and little bit by little bit, gained up to

309.

I had gastric bypass done in 1999, lost 100 lbs, and now have gained

55 lbs back.

I've been diagnosed (again) with an underactive thyroid. All the

years of me SCREAMING that my thyroid was underactiv, I've finally

got a doctor to listen to me.

So I've been on meds now for about 6 months....lost about 15

lbs....and guess what????....started gaining again.

My question is I've heard a little bit about Amour (spelling?!)

pills instead of synthroid.

Hoping someone could give me some different info about them.

I'm tired all of the time (except when I take a b12 shot, and a diet

pill), and just can't wait to get home to go to bed. My favorite

time of the day, is when I kiss my bf goodnight and go to bed.

Please don't make this in to a gastric bypass thing....I did it, the

only regret that I have is that I can't do it again. I'd do it

again in a heart beat if I could. All I ever hear now is " Diet and

exercise....diet and exercise " I swear the next doctor that says

that to me, I'm going to slap them.

Anyway...if anyone has had better luck w/Armour instead of

synthroid, I'll love to hear from you. I'm currently on .75

synthroid.

Thanks!

How much Synthroid were you put on way back when you were 13 yrs old? I

could bet that it was a whole lot more than the 75 you're on now. You've

been hypo ever since then, though they pulled you off the meds, may have

some cellular damage. Yes, Armour is right for some people, but not all, or

even a combo of T4 synthetic and Armour in some cases.
