Guest guest
I must say since coming on here I am truly amazed at the number of participants who are young females. I know that thyroid problems are more prevalent in this cohort of patients, my amazement is that many of you are having babies and raising families feeling like I have the past 7 years, and I just don't know how you do it. I give you a lof of credit, and assume many of you have helping mates. It must be pretty rugged at times. I offer my support and respect, what a cruel trick of nature, to drop this bomb on young Moms. I'd offer anything I could that would help, unfortunately, what you need is your Thyroids back, functioning normal, we all do. When will they figure out thyroid transplants, or how 'bout stem cells?? We need a strong lobby in DC for this one. Not sure if it is an option or being explored, considered.
Guest guest
Now there's a thought, growing new thyroid glands........ How to stop the auto-immune attacks? My son has Behcets Disease, his immune system attacks his whole body.......... there's a cure I'd like to see. --- grrich2763 grrich2763@...> wrote: > I must say since coming on here I am truly amazed at > the number of > participants who are young females. Guest guest
, I am new to all of this and I am a young mother. I just learned that my neighbor was also just diagnosed! Environmental? Water? Who knows. Your remarks mean so much to all of us who are young mothers. It is really difficult and I have only been dealing with this for a year. At least now I know what it is (I was diagnosed Hashimoto's in Jan). I just wanted to say thank you. Guest guest
I'd also like to say thank you for being 'recognized' for lack of a better word. I'm 28 (not as young as I used to be, I guess) with an extremely active four-year-old. I'm also entering my seventh month of pregnancy with a baby girl. It is difficult and my husband has become more and more supportive as he learns more about hypothyroidism. (I was diagnosed in November BUT if I think about the symptoms, I'm sure I'd been ill for a few years) and is willing to forego meals to let me sleep. Also, for anyone who is interested... If you may recall, my first TSH levels were 75.something (I don't think the numbers following the period matter when it was as high as it was!) and I was a wreck since I was newly pregnant. After a little while of taking meds (Tefor here in Turkish, a synthetic T4), it went down to 68 and then to 16. Now it is POINT ONE ONE FOUR. I'd give you the last results, but they're in the car (which is on the way to work with my husband). The baby thus far seems healthy--nothing showing up negatively in the ultrasounds I've had done. We'll see if she continues to develop well. (A question, though...I think Topper had told me that HYPER can result in big babies. Does my latest TSH level indicate HYPER? I know you need the T3 and T4 results but, Dani (my baby girl) was measuring 24+ weeks when I was 21 weeks and 6 days along. Her growth has slowed a bit (25.5 at 24.5)...) Take care. Guest guest
You are correct that you really need a T4 test done. You are on a T4 replacement med and the amount needed usually doubles during pregnancy. You do sound like you are feeling better though so I hope that is a good sign that things are working. Guest guest
I have the T4 and T3 results...I get those done every four weeks. I just can't remember them right now. They're in the glove compartment and the car is with my husband. My endocrinologist said the numbers were good and not to worry, but continue to take my meds and get my blood tested every month. Guest guest
Happy that you're doing good Dawn (formerly of MN).. Nope... being hyPO tends to make bigger babies. A hypo mom takes thyroid hormone from her baby, usually causing the baby to be larger, over 10 pounds. A TSH that low is s good thing, provided that your Frees aren't in the hyper range. Low TSH by itself is not an indication of hyper, you're not hyper unless the Free T3 is shot up way over range. You have a sweet hubby! Guest guest
You're very welcome, just wish I could offer more. You will read about the theory that " fluoridated water " may be an issue. The drug propylthioracil, fluoride based, was used decades ago to treat hyperthyroidism, so now questions arise as I see it, about the entire populus getting daily doses of Fl in our water, suppresses thyroid function, hence the large number of people who may be sub clinically hypo. ???? http://thyroid.about.com/cs/shames/a/fluoride.htm Here's a little reading. Guest guest
When my husband gets home from work (yes, it's Sunday and yes, he's working...gotta save up some money for the baby coming!), I'll get the latest results and post them to the group. :)Kisisel bilgilerinizi ve Bilgisayarinizi MSN Bilgisayar Güvenligi ile koruyun!
