From the reading of the email, i have one doubt - Gastroesophageal reflux. How can it be detected? What are the signs that parents should notice. Somebody told here a few weeks ago that didn't detected the problem and serious injuries ocurred! My daughter fortunatelly eat's well and never had problems with food, but i notice that she has frequently after meals hiccups. Guest guest
Hi Hugo, The reflux can be tested for with a barium swallow study or with a barium test into your child's tube if they are tube fed. She would go to the X-Ray or " flouroscopy " department at the hospital, eat or drink something containing barium, and the radiologist would watch it on the screen to see where the food or liquid goes. Hope this helps! http://www.chargesyndrome.info > > > Hello, > > i try to maintain my mail updated but is not easy, at > this moment i have more than 2500 mails to read!!! > > From the reading of the email, i have one doubt - > Gastroesophageal reflux. Guest guest
, thank you for the fast answer, does this condition have any symptoms that can be detected by the parents? --- Weir escreveu: > Hi Hugo, > The reflux can be tested for with a barium swallow > study or with a barium > test into your child's tube if they are tube fed. > She would go to the X-Ray > or " flouroscopy " department at the hospital, eat or > drink something > containing barium, and the radiologist would watch > it on the screen to see > where the food or liquid goes. > Hope this helps! > > http://www.chargesyndrome.info > > > > > > > > > > Hello, > > > > i try to maintain my mail updated but is not easy, > at > > this moment i have more than 2500 mails to read!!! > > > > From the reading of the email, i have one doubt - > > Gastroesophageal reflux. Guest guest
Hi Hugo, I just wanted to share my experience with reflux. was diagnosed with GERD at 10 months because he always sounded " wet " after eating and also had some coughing spells. The thing is, I always thought that babies with reflux spit up, which never did. Now, after being on reflux meds for 2 years, the doctor says he may have chronic reflux, not the infant kind that babies outgrow. The symptoms can sometimes sound like a cold, but pay attention to when they flare up(after eating). Good luck! , mom to Ben(5) and (2, CHARGE)and wife to Rob for 8 wonderful years! --- In CHARGE , hugo rosa wrote: > > , > > thank you for the fast answer, does this condition > have any symptoms that can be detected by the parents? > > > --- Weir escreveu: > > > Hi Hugo, > > The reflux can be tested for with a barium swallow > > study or with a barium > > test into your child's tube if they are tube fed. > > She would go to the X-Ray > > or " flouroscopy " department at the hospital, eat or > > drink something > > containing barium, and the radiologist would watch > > it on the screen to see > > where the food or liquid goes. > > Hope this helps! > > > > http://www.chargesyndrome.info > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Hello, > > > > > > i try to maintain my mail updated but is not easy, > > at > > > this moment i have more than 2500 mails to read!!! > > > > > > From the reading of the email, i have one doubt - > > > Gastroesophageal reflux. Guest guest
Hugo, It does (like vomiting, retching, etc) but as I have read over the years on this listserv, reflux can also happen " silently " with no outward symptoms. Then the food/liquid has been going into the lungs and causing damage. It's best to get the test to be sure in my opinion. It's not overly invasive or nasty and it will give you an answer to your question. http://www.chargesyndrome.info > > , > > thank you for the fast answer, does this condition > have any symptoms that can be detected by the parents? > > --- Weir <kawfolks@... <kawfolks%40gmail.com>> escreveu: > > > Hi Hugo, > > The reflux can be tested for with a barium swallow > > study or with a barium > > test into your child's tube if they are tube fed. > > She would go to the X-Ray > > or " flouroscopy " department at the hospital, eat or > > drink something > > containing barium, and the radiologist would watch > > it on the screen to see > > where the food or liquid goes. > > Hope this helps! > > > > http://www.chargesyndrome.info > > > > > > > > On 10/13/06, hugo rosa <hrosa_pt@... <hrosa_pt%40yahoo.com>> > wrote: > > > > > > > > > Hello, > > > > > > i try to maintain my mail updated but is not easy, > > at > > > this moment i have more than 2500 mails to read!!! > > > > > > From the reading of the email, i have one doubt - > > > Gastroesophageal reflux.
