!

I hadn't found that link yet! You are something! I had a great day

yesterday participating in an Arc of IL media campaign about our state's

waiting list. Of course, I wish we didn't have a waiting list, but the fact

is that we do. And only a smidgen of people have gotten their names on it.

Very frustrating. But - it was a fun day meeting other families, being on

the radio and TV! And, of course, I was always sure to mention CHARGE :-)

Ellen-

It was so much fun to be on the radio and TV!! I'm not famous - but I am

enjoying my little moment in the spotlight. It's especially nice because

the spotlight is not for me - it's for all people with disabilities. I'm so

fortunate to have the opportunity to speak on behalf of people in IL. And

then to get so much positive response from people in my state and community

- and to know that at least some people are getting the message --- well,

it's really cool.

Oh -

This is wonderful. How affirming, acknowledging and supportive. What a great

way to have people reach past their own discomfort and self-sufficiency. By each

being counted, they can help the whole. I might make do for myself, but I

surely will stand up quickly to help another.

Well done!

Yuka

(from the article)

Westmaas has a nine year old daughter with charge syndrome, and her

family needs support.

Westmaas said it might be difficult to admit you need help, but it's important

for families to stand up and be counted.

" We need to be able---outside of our comfort zone--- to talk to a stranger in an

office about what those needs are. We need to fill out those surveys so the

state will know that we're there, " Westmass said.

Yuka-

Well, that's the idea. But I'm always surprised at how many people do not

want to come forward. No matter how significant the needs of their loved

ones, many folks would rather struggle through than come forward with their

needs.

Michele-

Thank you for keeping up the good fight. Since a lot of families do

not come forward they do benefit from the changes that occur from

the few people who do.

Keep up the good work!!
