Hi ,

I posted a question last week about having to go through the whole

radiation treatment again. I recently did the thyrogen injections,

body scan and the endo found thyroid cells(removed due to papillary

cancer). She said I have to go off meds, low iodine diet and have the

RA 123 again. My question is.....is this unusual, do any of you know

anyone who had to do this? I was hoping for a response and since no

one responded, I'm wondering how normal this is. How much radiation

can the body take? I would be reassured if I know of others who have

done this. Thanks for reading this.

What the doctor is having you do is actually quite common, and

unfortunately neccisary by the sounds of things. I have not been

through it as I did not have thyroid cancer.. I believe there is only a

few here that have had the thyroid removed due to cancer and since they

have not responded I am not sure if they have had to go through more

than the intial procedure.

There is a few thyrcan sites that you may want to look at... they

explain the low iodine diet.. need for RAI etc.. now with you been

there done that not sure how much of the info will be helpful but they

do also have a message board in which you may have some luck finding a

few people who have been down your path ahead of you..
