Guest guest
Gee, I'm surprised about what your physician told you too. My tumor was classified Stage IIIa, Grade 3, and 5 of 20 lymph nodes were positive. I'm also fortunate to be ER/PR+, so there are many options to help keep me around for years to come. Chemotherapy and hormone therapy decrease my statistical chances of a reoccurrence dramatically. But they aren't anything close to zero. Yes, your cancer had spread beyond the breast, but it may not have gone any further. Those lymph nodes are SUPPOSED to help keep bad stuff from getting into the blood, so it's just as possible that they did their job. That's how I'm looking at my future. ... AND I do think that I have one. I'm trying to do my part to help my body succeed in operating like it's supposed to operate. I've had the surgery; I've completed chemotherapy; I've completed radiation; and I may have my sole ovary removed because the faithful organ is still producing too much estrogen even though I haven't had a period for 10 years and am almost 59 years old. Now I need to start planning to live healthier than I have been with more exercise and a more nutritious diet. I hope today was a better day for you, and that you are able to start planning for a better, longer future. SharonK
