This program is offered by the Wisconsin Personnel Development Project at the Waisman Center, University of Wisconsin-Madison, and is funded through the Wisconsin Department of Health and Family Services, Birth to 3 Program. Briefly, Parents As Leaders: . Is a statewide program for parents or care givers who have children with special needs, age birth to six years old. . Builds parents' skills in creating effective partnerships with individuals who work with their families -- on the local, state, and national level. . Gives parents an opportunity to meet and interact with state leaders and policy makers. . Creates the chance for parents to meet other families to exchange information, support, ideas, and resources. . Provides partial support for parent travel and child care to enable all families to participate. . Meets five weekends during the year. Please print and disseminate this information immediately to all parents and providers in your program who have or serve children in this age range. You are a key contact person for families in your area. We are counting on you to help us get this information to parents.
