PALS is a leadership program for parents of children who have special needs.

This program is offered by the Wisconsin Personnel Development Project at

the

Waisman Center, University of Wisconsin-Madison, and is funded through the

Wisconsin Department of Health and Family Services, Birth to 3 Program.

Briefly, Parents As Leaders:

. Is a statewide program for parents or care givers who have

children with special needs, age birth to six years old.

. Builds parents' skills in creating effective partnerships with

individuals who work with their families -- on the local, state, and

national

level.

. Gives parents an opportunity to meet and interact with state

leaders and policy makers.

. Creates the chance for parents to meet other families to

exchange

information, support, ideas, and resources.

. Provides partial support for parent travel and child care to

enable all families to participate.

. Meets five weekends during the year.

Please print and disseminate this information immediately to all parents and

providers in your program who have or serve children in this age range. You

are a key contact person for families in your area. We are counting on you

to

help us get this information to parents. If you have any questions, please

call or email Beth at 608-263-6745 or 1-800-532-3321,

Thank you for your time and help in getting the word out to others!
